Principal's Update
Take TV, for example:
- My grandparents grew up without televisions. They played jacks and went outside, unsupervised.
- My parents were the first generation to grow up where it was common to have a household TV. Most kids grew up acting out scenes from The Lone Ranger.
- I grew up with more TV options. You could watch Fresh Prince of Bel Air on network TV, and if you were lucky, there were other options (I loved McGuyver) on cable. My best friend and I rushed home afterschool to see the 3pm Adam West Batman reruns.
- Today, kids have countless options of what to watch. They can pick the time, place, and content.
While change has been constant, the rate of change and significance of change since the advent of the Smartphone and Appstore in 2008 is unprecedented. Changes are being observed in younger children's acquisition of language and social skills and in teen rates of anxiety and depression.
At Edgewood, we're not people who like to admire the problem. There are things we can do to support our children's health and development, and the Spaghetti Dinner/Family Fun Night was born out of this idea. We hope you'll consider joining us on April 25th for some good old family fun with card games, Bingo, and pasta. Registration is limited. Sign up now! https://forms.gle/StXcpS78xWiuwaUU7

The end of the year is a busy time for EHSA.
*We fully fund many field trips coming up
*We're hosting a Family Fun Night Spaghetti Dinner at no cost to families on April 25th

At our May meeting on Tuesday, May 11th, we'll vote in positions for our EHSA board for the upcoming year. Might you have something to contribute? Do you have a nomination of someone you think would add value to our board? If so, send it to Mrs. Boyd @ mboyd@greenfield.k12.wi.us. She'll put the notations on a ballot for us.
