Amazing First Week!
There is nothing North East cannot accomplish, as we have had a good start to the school year! Students have met all their teachers, as well as received their Chromebooks. Seniors celebrated the start of their final year of high school, as the freshman started their first year of high school.
Once again, we would like to welcome our new Assistant Principals to the North East Family...Ms. Pucci, Mr. Conkey, and Mr. DeMayo! Who have been instrumental in North East having an amazing first week!
Lastly, all students have attended grade-level meetings and those presentations will be shared with families via email.

Let’s work together to eliminate unnecessary and unlawful absences!
Frequent absences can be a sign that a student is losing interest in school, struggling with school work, dealing with a bully or facing some other difficulty.
By 6th grade, absenteeism is one of three signs that a student may drop out of high school.
By 9th grade, attendance is a better predictor of graduation rates than 8th grade test scores.
Missing 10%, or 2 days a month, over the course of the school year, can affect a student’s academic success.

Upper Class - Parking Information
To begin the school year, SENIORS ONLY may drive to school until 9/18 when parking passes will be distributed.
Due to the limited parking spaces at NEHS, students need to apply for a parking permit. Students must provide the required information on the application and adhere to all driving/parking rules and regulations. The cost of the Parking Permit for those that receive a parking space is $10. Student vehicles may be inspected any day by administration to ensure they have a valid parking pass and are parking in their assigned parking spot.
Consideration will be given to students in the prioritized “need to drive/park” manner as follows, as long as spaces are available (one parking space per family):
SENIORS as follows:
AP courses taken at another school or CECIL COLLEGE courses
Senior Waiver
Senior Option
Extra-Curricular Activities
Work or family need
Parking permits will be sold to juniors using the above process criteria for any remaining parking spots. Freshman and sophomores are not permitted to drive to school at any time.
Seniors can complete parking permit applications during lunches from 9/9 to 9/12. They are due by the end of the school day on 9/13. Students with approved applications can purchase their pass throughout the day in the Main Office from 9/16 to 9/18. Permit parking checks will begin on 9/19.
Athletic Information
If you are planning on coming to support our student athletes please know that all football and any other event that starts at 5:00 PM or later will be gated and admission will be charged.
We do not allow backpacks, pets, or outside food (when we offer concessions). Any student under high school age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. There is no smoking or vaping anywhere on school property regardless of age.
AVID Elective Corner
This year we are excited to bring AVID to NEHS. We currently have 48 students enrolled in the AVID 10 elective class. AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. The goal of the class is to build capacity in students to use strategies that will help them to be academically and socially successful.
Don't forget to order your AVID tee shirt today! Cash or checks payable to NEHS can be brought to the main office. You can also order online by clicking here.
Action Club Corner
Hello North East families!
We are the Action Club, an organization very similar to the PTA/PTO from the elementary and middle schools. Anyone may join our club (free of charge), but we are primarily a group of parents who work together to do all that we can to support and enhance the experiences for the students, staff, and local community of North East High School (NEHS). We are here to promote NEHS’s curricular and extra-curricular support for school-wide activities in an effort to improve school spirit, provide enrichment, and develop positive student, teacher, parent, administrative, and community relationships.
The Action Club provides support for many school-sponsored events and fun fundraisers, such as:
- Back to School Activities
- Meet the Teacher Night
- Homecoming
- Concession Stands for indoor sporting events
- Valentine's Day Grams
- NEHS Senior Banners
- NEHS Yard Banners
- Sports Award Programs
- NEHS Stadium Business Banner Sales
- Holiday Teacher Appreciation Luncheon
- Teacher Appreciation Luncheon
Most of our efforts require more than just funds; they also require Volunteers! We welcome anyone to our meetings and events and want parents to be as involved as possible. We know and understand how busy families are today! We know our kids are older and think they don’t need or want us around, but they need us more now than ever. Stay plugged in and involved in what the school and your kids are doing! They need you! We need you! The more people we have involved, the less we each have to do, and the more we can offer our students and staff! We have a wide variety of needs and are always looking for new ideas and fresh faces! Great things are happening for North East High's students and staff, and the Action Club is proud to be a part of it all! Won’t you join us?
Our first meeting this school year will be Wednesday, September 11th at 6:30 pm in the North East High School Career Center.
If you want to be added to our contact list to receive Action Club/school information, please email us at actionclubnehs@gmail.com. Please include your name, child’s name, grade level, and phone number, and if you have any specific task you would be interested in helping with,
We are excited for a great year with NEHS. Please don't hesitate to email me if you have any questions.
Many thanks,
Marlena Hammen
Action Club President
