Snack Pantry as Community Building
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I wanted to personally thank SO MANY OF YOU for your generosity this semester with regard to filling our free snack pantry (no questions asked). This has become a very important way for our administration to continue building positive relationships with our student body each day. Because of this little program, our students associate the office with nourishment, assistance, resources, and love, (not just accountability and discipline). Thank you so much!!! We could not do this without your donations.
Thank you to Stephanie, Nora, Layla, Lyric, and Torre for keeping our snacks stocked and ready each day for our teens!
-Erica
Sophomore Guides Program
If you have a 10th grade student, your teen has been paired with a 9th grader in order to mentor them throughout the school year! Once a month, we have a special "Sophomore Guides" scavenger hunt event to help our pairs get to know one another better. Last Friday was our 2nd Sophomore Guides event and several students won gift cards!
Fear of Failure Emails Explained
If you received a "Fear of Failure" email this past Friday, this means that your student is achieving a 69% or lower in a class. These emails are sent out every other Friday during 2nd quarter to keep our parent/guardian community informed of potential academic problems that may be occurring with your teen. The end of the semester will approach quickly after winter break, so we make sure to communicate potential loss of credit well in advance of January 24th. Once final grades are stored in our system, it is very difficult to make any changes. To increase grades, ALL teachers tutor during Lunch and Learn one day per week:
MONDAYS- Math with Jenny Robish and Trish Smrecak
TUESDAYS- Digital Art (Flower), Fine Art (Flower), Outdoor Education (Chelsea), Science (Jason)
WEDNESDAYS- Social Studies with Drew, ELA with Phil
THURSDAYS- Social Studies or ELA with David, Spanish with Nick, Science with Jason
FRIDAYS- Inclusion Education with Isaac and Kim, ASL with Erica
