February 2025
A Note from Mrs. Williams
February is here, bringing a shortened month but one filled with learning, growth, and opportunities for kindness! As we move through the second half of the school year, we look forward to upcoming events, including our second intersession the week after Valentine's Day.
This means no school from February 17 through February 21.
We also have an early release on February 26th. Did you know that while students dismiss early on those days, teachers stay for 3 hours of professional learning? This time is dedicated to enhancing social-emotional learning, curriculum, and additional supports for students. Thank you for your continued partnership in making our school an excellent place for students to learn and thrive!

Valentine's Day
As we celebrate Valentine’s Day, we kindly ask that families refrain from sending in food treats to share with the class. Due to various medical concerns and allergies, the only food items allowed must be specifically requested by teachers and include ingredient labels. This ensures the safety and well-being of all students. We encourage non-food alternatives such as cards, stickers, or small trinkets to spread kindness and joy.
Please note that siblings will not be permitted to attend. With so much happening, we need volunteers to focus on their elementary child and assist in the classroom to help ensure the event runs smoothly for everyone.
Thank you for your understanding and support!
Do you have preschool aged children?
We are looking for your input regarding preschool needs. If you have a young child, or plan to send your child to preschool in the future, please consider completing this short survey.
Davison Community Schools is dedicated to meeting the needs of our families. We’re seeking input from families with soon-to-be preschool-aged children to help shape preschool options that serve our community. You can help by completing this quick survey by clicking on this link:
There are statewide developments happening now regarding PreK for All (also known as GSRP). We’ll keep you updated as we learn more from the State of Michigan about funding opportunities for PreK for All. If you’d like to stay informed, please provide your email address and follow the DCS Facebook page for future updates.
Please note: PreK for All is exclusively for 4-year-olds, but we’re gathering feedback on both 3- and 4-year-old programs through this survey.
Thank you for sharing your input!
Count Day!
February 12th is COUNT DAY!
Your child’s attendance in school is extremely important on this day.
Davison Community Schools will be reporting the number of students in our district to the State of Michigan for funding purposes. If you are not able to attend, please send a note to school or call 591-0828 explaining the reason for your child’s absence so that it can be excused.
Milk Money
We want to remind families that all student lunches are provided free of charge through the school meal program. However, if a student chooses to take milk only, without the rest of the meal, there is a charge for the milk. This cost will be added to the student’s meal account and could result in a negative balance if insufficient funds exist. To avoid any surprises, we encourage families to monitor their student’s meal accounts regularly and add funds as needed. If you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact our office.
Dressing warm for recess
Please have your children bring warm outdoor winter gear to school every day to make sure they stay warm while they are outside for recess. Please write your child's name inside their winter gear. This helps prevent items from getting lost at school. Students spend approximately 20 min outside each day.
If your child needs winter gear, please reach out to Mrs. Demo.
Visitors at Central
All visitors at Central will be asked to ring the doorbell at the front entrance. A member from the office will greet you through the microphone; please state your name, your child's name, and what brings you in that day. Parents, guardians, and other family members will be allowed into Davison Community School buildings to:
· Drop off/pick up student medications
· Attend IEPs/504s or Parent-Teacher Conferences
· Or as an Approved Volunteer
Student Sign In
If you are dropping your child off late, please walk your child to the main entrance, ring the bell, and wait for an office staff member to let you in to sign your student in for the day.
Student Sign Out
If you pick your child up early, ring the bell outside, and a staff member will greet you. Your student will then be called to the office, and you will sign them out. Please be sure to present your picture ID for identification.
Birthday Treats
Central students and staff LOVE to celebrate birthdays! Due to ongoing concerns regarding food allergies, medical conditions and dietary restrictions, Davison Community Schools no longer allows food treats, including cake and cupcakes, to be sent in.
Please talk with your child’s teacher about alternate ideas for celebrating your child’s birthday .
