Tips to Support Preschool Nutrition
Did you know all children get the opportunity for a free lunch at our school cafeteria through May 2025? This is a great time to encourage your child to try a variety of new foods! Free school lunch is incredibly helpful to our pocketbooks, but as we know, there are a lot of picky eaters out there! You can help encourage children eat a variety of healthy foods
by doing the following:
•Introduce your child to a new food with a meal at dinner time. Continue to familiarize your child with this food by including this food with meals regularly.
• Discuss where various foods come from and grocery shop together. Visit farms, farmers markets, and orchards.
• Cook together! Your child can stir, add ingredients and spices, roll dough, etc. Introduce new
or “unusual” foods slowly and in different ways (e.g. raw onions in a salad don’t taste like caramelized onions in a taco).
• Show flexibility. Model trying new things and refrain from acting negatively towards foods you
don’t prefer.
Support your Student with a Goodbye Ritual!
What is a Goodbye Ritual?
A goodbye ritual is a way for parents and care givers to have a special way to say goodbye to their student. After a special hug, fist bump, or high five- be sure to trust your student's teacher and leave when you say goodbye. This promotes security with not only your child's teacher, but also with your student. The more anxiety you show, the more they will feel. It is instinctual for your child to empathize with the most important person in their life, YOU! Please let us know if you need any extra support with the Goodbye Process.
Family Conference Sign-Up
Preschool Family Conference
Save the Date for our Preschool Family Conferences! We will have a conferences on October 11th. Please look for schedules from your child's teacher to be sent home with your top three times to meet. You can meet in person or by phone. Let us know if you have any questions or concerns! Thank you!
It's getting colder...
Please check your student's backpack and exchange the extra summer clothes for winter clothes. Also, please remember to dress your child for the weather. You will want to put their name on the tag to prevent it from getting lost.
Note from the Nurse
Please be sure to have your child's immunizations up to date. Those who received a letter need to make an appointment with their doctor and let Nurse Brooke know in the office to avoid exclusion.
