Important CCSD Safety Updates
Greetings from the Clark County School District,
Clark County School District (CCSD) students return to school on Monday, August 12, 2024.
Required Student ID badges
Beginning in the 2024-2025 school year, students in grades 6–12 must wear an identification badge on CCSD secondary school campuses. Identification badges will be created and distributed by individual schools. More information about how students can obtain their identification badges will come from each school during the first few weeks of the school year.

Cell phone pouches
Additionally, the District works to ensure our students receive a high-quality education in a conducive learning environment. With that in mind, this school year, CCSD is implementing an innovative solution that will significantly contribute to safety in our schools – using non-locking, signal-blocking pouches for personal cellular devices in grades 6–12. Elementary schools can use the pouches if they believe it is appropriate for their campus.
In our increasingly digital world, electronic devices have become integral to our lives, providing both opportunities and challenges. The purpose of non-locking, signal-blocking pouches is to ensure a distraction-free and safe learning environment.
The benefits of using a non-locking, signal-blocking pouch within the classroom will assist students with academic learning, including minimizing distractions, promoting responsible device use, and ensuring a safe learning environment.
Each student’s cellular device will be placed in a non-locking, signal-blocking pouch in a classroom location and accessible in the event of an emergency.
We are confident that, with your cooperation, we can create a more focused learning environment.

Frequently Asked Questions
Please see the FAQ below for some of the most commonly asked questions.
What will this look like at my child’s school?
Beginning August 12, 2024, all grades 6–12 students’ cellular devices will be placed in a non-locking, signal-blocking pouch during instructional times.
While each school’s process will vary slightly, in general, students can expect the following at their school each day if they bring a cell phone or electronic device to school with them:
Students will place their cellular devices into a non-locking, signal-blocking pouch at the beginning of the instructional period or day. The educator will remind students to silence their cellular devices for safety purposes. It is best practice to place the personal cellular device in airplane mode before placing it in the pouch.
The educator will instruct students where to place the non-locking, signal-blocking pouches for safety, such as on the student’s desk or in a designated classroom area.
What if there is an emergency?
In an emergency or an evacuation drill, students will always have immediate access to their cellular devices as safety permits.
What CCSD Policy does this align under?
Students' use of personal technology and communication devices, such as cellular devices, laptops, tablet computers, or other similar electronic devices, must align with Policy 5136, Personal Technology and Communication Devices.
The use of student personal technology and communication devices, such as cellular devices, laptops, tablet computers, or other similar electronic devices, is permitted during the following:
Scheduled nutrition or lunch periods
School-sponsored activities at all District campuses
