Hello BCE Community,

This was our last full week of the year. I can't believe how fast the year has gone. The previous 2 weeks will be super busy and fun. Remember, NO SCHOOL MONDAY.

Next Friday will be our school's last spirit day. Please join us for ANYTHING BUT A BAG DAY. Be creative, but please take a look at the flyer and read the rules :)

Teachers had a fun week with an underground spirit week. We had so much fun surprising the kids each day with a new theme. Thank you to all the teachers for being so spirited and making our Bears smile each day.

Field day is a big day at BCE. We are so excited to share some outdoor fun on campus, including lots of water fun. Students are not to wear bathing suits, but please send an extra set of clothes to change into.

We are moving into our final school year countdown—lots of events and fun. We hope all families can help us by talking with your students about spring behavior. We have seen a significant uptick in unsafe and unkind behavior on campus. We have had many class meetings and conversations to remind everyone about the BCE Way.

Everyone should have received a email regarding school registration for next year. EVERY PARENT needs to complete this prior to getting assigned a class for next year. If you have not received a registration email please email Lpiccolo@slvusd.org. We need 100% of families to complete it. We are currently at 50%/

The 5th grade promotion is on Wednesday, June 4th, at 9:00 a.m. on the upper field. Drop-off that day is always busy. Please remember that we don't have any extra parking on campus, so please plan for time to park off campus.

Summer learning books and maps will go home during the last week of school. Each student will have the option of completing the summer learning book and map or the online learning map. The flyer is below. We encourage every student to participate. Eight weeks is a long time, so any bit of learning will help the summer learning slide. Students who finish one of the two maps will receive a fun day once we return. It is always so much fun.

We are trying to support our local food pantry for the summer need. If you can donate, please send a couple of canned foods. The class with the most cans before Field Day will get some extra water fun. Got to love a good water balloon fight :)

BCE has two options for summer learning this year!

BCE’s Summer Brain Quests contain learning activities to help your child retain the gains they made this year and prepare for next year! Each path has a map showing their progress as they move through the Quests!

Summer Brain Quest Book: Complete the Brain Quest Map by the end of the summer. For every lesson, place a sticker on the map. Complete the map by the end of the summer to participate in a fun event at the start of the year.

Summer Brain Quest (online): The online option lets you use Lexia and i-Ready to support your summer learning and prepare for next year. Complete one Lexia or one i-Ready lesson daily and check off the box. Complete the map by the end of the summer to participate in a fun event at the start of the year.

Make learning a part of every day this summer!

Every student who completes the activities can bring their filled-in map to school next year to earn a reward!

The PowerSchool registration is now open for 2025-2026 school year, please follow these instructions below to complete the online forms. We need your up-to-date contact preferences, student health data, parent/student permissions, as well as other important information verified or completed within one week of receipt or prior to the first day of school whichever is first. Having all the necessary information will help us with student placement and scheduling. Your timely input and cooperation are greatly appreciated.

An email will be sent on Monday May 12, 2025 from PowerSchool Enrollment. Please follow the directions below to complete your registration form.

Directions to follow:

1. Please find in your email an email from PowerSchool Enrollment

2. Title of the email will read : SLVUSD POWERSCHOOL ENROLLMENT (ONLINE REGISTRATION)

3. Locate the yellow box on the email. In the yellow box will be the link for you to click to complete the online registration form.

4. You will use your student's date of birth to access the form, once you click the link in the yellow box.

5. Please use Google Chrome or a Firefox browser to complete the form

6. You will receive one email for every student you have that will be returning to SLVUSD. Each student will need to complete the registration process.

Drop Off and Pick Up

We have had several issues the past couple of weeks at both drop off and pick up. Please know that all of us out at the cross walk are only trying to keep our students and families safe. I wanted to remind everyone to please first be Kind and Patient. Here are a few reminders about pick up and drop off

• You can drop off on either side of Laurel Street.
• You can NOT drop off coming up on Lomond street.
• You can only leave your car in designated parking spots on Laurel street.
• Make sure you are not parking in front of our neighbors drive ways
• On Lomond Street, you need to park in the right direction. Buses are not able to get through when cars are away from the side and parked in the wrong direction.
• When walking down Lomond Street please use the sidewalk. We have had a few close calls with kids and parents walking in the center of the street.
