Superintendent Yaw Obeng, M.Ed. is happy to announce that a seasoned educator, Kevin Robinson, M.Ed., has joined the Hickman Mills C-1 School District Executive Leadership Team as the new Executive Director of Operations. His first day with the district was on Monday, November 1.
In his position as Executive Director of Operations with HMC-1, Mr. Robinson will oversee the district’s Buildings & Grounds Department, Nutrition Service Department, security, athletics and bond work. Please join us in welcoming Mr. Robinson. You can learn more about him here.
Above & Beyond Honoree, First Grade Millennium Student
Congratulations to our first Above and Beyond Award recipient for the 2021-22 school year, Peyton J., first grade student at Millennium at Santa Fe.
Peyton is a leader inside and outside of the classroom. He continuously looks out for his peers, ensuring they feel comfortable and safe. One day at recess, there was a crowd of students trying to go down the slide. There was a student that was getting frustrated because other students kept jumping in front of her. Peyton was able to calm the student down while helping the student get her turn down the slide. Not only is Peyton a student with good character, he is also a top scholar. He is one of the highest in first grade for reading and math. He always demonstrates appropriate behavior and is a great role model for his peers. Thank you, Peyton, for being such a fantastic scholar!

The Hickman Mills C-1 School District would like to thank our community members who donated to the district, following the news that the district lost its main food vendor due to ongoing national supply chain issues. Our hearts are full of gratitude as we report that our food warehouse is full and the district is now receiving consistent deliveries from Martin Bros. This could not have been possible without the dedication and outpouring of support from friends, family, staff, the Hickman Mills community, and the Greater Kansas City community. Read more here.
November is National Homelessness Youth Awareness Month!
Every year, hundreds of thousands of American families become homeless, including more than 1.6 million children. Those who experience homelessness not only lose their home, they lose their community, friends, and routines as well as their sense of stability and safety.
At HMC-1, we seek to support all those who are experiencing homelessness through our McKinney-Vento program. Contact your Family School Liaison if you or someone you know is experiencing homelessness.
HMEF 2021 Virtual Gala Update
The Hickman Mills Educational Foundation would like to extend a big 'thank you' to all HMC-1 staff, families, and community members who participated, supported, or donated to this year’s virtual auction.
Though we regret that the event was not held in person due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we still had great success. Because of you, we were able to raise $9,317.59 to support educational programs that benefit students and staff of HMC-1. A heartfelt thank you!

Patrick Mahomes Signed Jersey Raffle
HMEF is holding a raffle for an autographed Patrick Mahomes framed jersey. The jersey will include a certificate of authenticity. The foundation is only going to sell 100 tickets, $25 per ticket.
