Omaha North High Magnet Mission Statement
The mission of Omaha North High Magnet School is to prepare all students for success in lifelong studies and careers.
Message from Dr. Nero, Principal
Greetings Viking Families,
We are nearing the end of 3rd quarter and students are working hard, getting involved and planning for summer/future endeavors. Thank you to everyone who participated in parent-teacher conferences; however, feel free to reach out to teachers when needed throughout the semester.
While OPS has updated the mask wearing policy, please know that health and safety continue to be a top priority. It is important to note our other, layered health and safety precautions:
- We encourage all eligible people to be vaccinated against COVID-19. This includes people due for a booster dose. We have hosted more than 175 vaccine clinics across our district. More vaccine clinics are scheduled in the weeks ahead.
- Enhanced disinfecting procedures will continue.
- Students and staff must continue to stay home if they feel ill.
- Isolation guidance following a positive COVID-19 diagnosis remains the same.
- School communication to staff and families will continue.
Regarding dismissal, as is the case in the mornings, we do not have sufficient staff to supervise students beyond 3:25pm. Students participating in activities must check-in promptly after school. Students waiting for a ride are expected to exit the building. Under harsh conditions (temps below 20, heavy rain, etc.) we will allow students extra time in the building while we confirm a ride is on the way. To avoid students being on campus unsupervised, please be sure to plan for pick-up daily at 3:05pm. We appreciate your assistance with this matter.
We look forward to warmer weather, spring sports/activities and all the celebratory events in the coming weeks and final month of the school year. As always we thank you for your continued support and involvement in the Viking Community. If you have any questions, please call us 531-299-2700.
Go Vikings!

Attention 11th Graders! The ACT Test is Tuesday, April 5th
April 5 is ACT day - No school for students in grades 9, 10, and 12
This school year, similar to last, all juniors (grade 11) will take the ACT. All juniors are required to take this state assessment. The test takes a little over four hours and requires an environment with no distractions. As a result, 11th graders will be the only students in attendance on that date, including students who take the NSCAS-Alternate Assessment.
The ACT test administration date is Tuesday, April 5, 2022. Attendance is critical on this day. Students who have taken the ACT in the past are still required to participate in this state administration. In order to facilitate the required testing environment, students in grades 9, 10, and 12 will not have school. Breakfast and lunch will be served. Building principals will provide information regarding post-test activities and release information. Busses will arrive at the 3:05 dismissal.
MyACT has free resources that can help students prepare for the ACT. Students can create an account at my.act.org Students may have set-up an account at school already.
Thank you for your continued efforts to assist students in preparing for the ACT on Tuesday, April 5.
Please contact Michelle Porter at michelle.porter@ops.org if you have questions.
