Nederland Middle-Senior HS Community,
Throughout the school year we have four School Accountability Committee (SAC) meetings. The meetings are intended to provide information and data related to school Unified Improvement Plans (UIP) and other related school data and actions that hopefully contribute to school improvement. Our next scheduled SAC meeting is this coming week: Thursday, February 15 at 6:00 p.m. in the Ned MS/HS library. All are welcome to attend.

Reminder for Parent Teacher Conferences coming up. This spring we will have both, in-person conferences: Thursday, February 22 from 4:30-8:00 p.m. and on-line conferences: Thursday, February 28 from 4:30-8:00 p.m. Check for an email from 'Help at Schools' on Monday for a link to sign up for your conferences.

Spring is almost here! CHSAA practice starts for High School Track & Field as well as High School Girls’ Soccer on Monday February 26. Register today, upload your current sports physical, and please remember to submit your payment through RevTrak. Contact Janet Turnburke with questions about registering, Gavin Coombs with track specific questions, and Alberto Gonzalez with soccer specific questions.
High School Alpine will be participating in the CHSAA State Championships at Loveland this Thursday 2/15 & Friday 2/16. We have had over 20 athletes qualify in Slalom, Giant Slalom, or both, including our very own Trinity LeBlanc, Grayson Shurr and Cedar Shupe. There might be a couple more qualifiers after today’s race. Ski fast and good luck!
Middle School Alpine had a great home race at Eldora yesterday, with the Girls’ placing 2nd and the Boys’ placing 3rd. A special thank you to all of the coaches and volunteers who helped make it possible. They finish up with Championships this Thursday 2/15 at Copper Mountain.
High School Boys’ Basketball plays at home against Two Roads this Thursday 2/15. We will be recognizing our Seniors promptly at 5:30 pm, with tipoff following at 6:00 pm. Come on out to support seniors Kiryu Sugishita, Ricky Fortunato, Owen Clevland, Gavin Dillon, and Landon Ritch-Merz for their last home game.
Middle School Girls’ Basketball wraps up their season this week. On Monday, they lost a hard fought game to Summit, getting edged out in the final minute. They have one more game in Louisville this Wednesday. Good luck ladies!
There will be a Middle School Volleyball Workshop on February 21-23 from 4:00 to 5:30 pm, hosted by the High School Volleyball Team. Contact Coach Nicole Zotti with any questions, and be sure to register at the NMSHS Spring Volleyball Workshop Registration Link.
Finally, Middle School Boys’ Basketball will have a Spring Basketball Mini-Camp with Coach Leventhal and Coach LeFaiver. Grades 5 & 6 play Monday 3/4 & Wednesday 3/6 from 4-6 pm. Grades 7 & 8 play Tuesday 3/5 & Thursday 3/7 from 4-6 pm. On Friday 3/8, there will be competitive games from 4-7 pm for all grades that parents can come watch. Email Coach Leventhal to register.

10th and 11th graders - interested in exploring Engineering over the summer? Summer Engineering Program at Colorado School of Mines is now accepting applications. The Summer Multicultural Engineering Training (SUMMET) program is an engineering, science, and technology program designed for rising juniors and seniors who are from underrepresented populations, including ethnic and racial minorities, women, as well as students with demonstrated financial need. SUMMET combines hands-on projects, team-building activities, and social events. The program also provides exposure to the lifestyle, opportunities and challenges of college and is designed to help build skills and experiences for a smooth transition from high school to college. SUMMET is a one-week residential program, allowing participants to live on campus for the duration of the program, experience life as a college student and participate in STEM-related curriculum instruction. This program is available at no cost to participants except for a $50 confirmation fee for students accepted into the program. Transportation to and from the program is not included in the cost. Apply before March 1 on SUMMET website.

Boulder Tech: The application to attend Boulder Tec application is open until February 23rd. Students in current 10th and 11th grades can apply now to attend Boulder Tech in Fall 2024. Boulder Tec’s website is here.
BVSD online high school credit recovery: BVSD Online offers credit recovery courses to students looking to earn or recoup necessary graduation credits.
High School Credit Recovery is about 6 weeks. Sign up for credit recovery session 2, before the March 8th deadline: 3/08/2024. Credit recovery courses are $175. Students with waived fees pay $50. Students who received an F in a previously completed course are eligible for credit recovery.

NMSHS Valentine’s Day Ice Cream Treat for Staff & Students!
We are treating our staff and the students to a Valentine’s Day Ice Cream Sundae Treat!
What a fun way to show our love for our staff and students!
The Panther Parents PTA will be supplying ice cream, bowls, spoons, and volunteers.
We are asking for families to help supply toppings and for a few volunteers to help at the event.

Free Dental Services at NMSHS - Friday Feb. 16
BVSD is partnering with Clinica Family Health to provide preventative dental services at our school. Dental services may include screenings, fluoride applications, sealants, and referrals for additional care not available at schools.
All students are eligible to participate. To receive these services for your child, please fill out the consent form.

Middle school Iron Chef sign up is open
Does your BVSD student love cooking? Consider signing up for the BVSD Middle School Iron Chef Competition! Teams of 2-4 students (with one adult coach) will come up with their own recipes on this year's theme "Around the World." Finalists will be invited to the Iron Chef Cook-Off on Wednesday, March 20th, and the winning dish will appear on next year's menu! Visit the BVSD Food Project website for more information, and to submit a team application and recipe. Submissions are due Friday, March 1st.
