Cedar Grove Friday Flash
May 24, 2024
Dear Cedar Grove Families:
Congratulations to all our students who participated in our Spring Chorus and Instrumental Music concert. It was a wonderful program, and it was clear that your children worked hard to prepare for this enjoyable evening. Many thanks to the families who came to support the Cedar Grove music programs and special thanks to Mrs. Arellano and Mr. Kieft for their time and hard work in creating programs such as these.
We are pleased to share that students continue to do a great job with our composting program. For the month of April, students were able to divert 421 lbs of food from landfills and incinerators. We are very proud of their efforts!
Donations are still being collected next week for Project Happy Feet, which is a student-run organization aiming to make sports equipment accessible for students in lower income areas. If you have any new and lightly-used shoes or sports equipment, please drop your items in the box in the main entrance foyer. All items will be donated to Title I schools. For more information, please click on this flyer.
The last day to complete our end of year Parent Survey will be May 31, 2024, and we are still hoping for as many responses as possible. Your child's learning and engagement in school is valuable and important to us, and your input will help us to identify our priorities for the 2024-2025 school year. This survey asks for your opinions about your experience with our school. Your individual responses will remain confidential and anonymous. Results will only be reported as group data. You can access the survey by clicking the link below. Thank you for taking a few minutes of your time to complete this survey.

From Mrs. Hirschhorn, Media Specialist
As we are coming to our last week of May, the May Media Monthly has been updated to show our last media lessons of this school year as well as our summer reading program. I know. It's unbelievable that we've already arrived at this point. There's a lot going on in our space next week: we will hold our DHS/CHS clap-out when our graduating students come back to visit us; the Book Fair will be setting up in the media center next Friday, and our last day of book checkout will be next Friday, too. That means we're going to start getting all our books back for the year. If your student is in Kindergarten through fourth grade and has a home use device, you may keep it over the summer. However, if you have a fifth grader with a home use device, please arrange to return it with its charger to the media center. This is an exciting time with many events planned, but we still try to focus on learning and discovery in the process. Have a wonderful weekend!
