Week of March 17, 2024
Happy St Patrick's Day!
Last Sunday was the Eastchester St. Patrick's Day Parade. We had so many families march with us behind our banner. Thank you to all that were able to brave the elements and march with us! See some pictures below.
On Monday, our Read-a-Thon began. We are doing extremely well so far, not only raising money, but for the many, many minutes are students are reading each day! I am so proud of them, and know we will read even more this week. Our Read-a-Thon ends on Monday, March 25th.
On Wednesday, our 5th to 8th Grade students went to church for Stations of the Cross with Deacon Orlando.
Yesterday, students from Pre-K to Grade 3 came to school for our first ever Easter Egg Hunt! Our young ones were greeted by a visit from the Easter Bunny and went searching our property for Easter eggs. The weather certainly cooperated as the children were able to have some refreshments and play with their friends.
This morning was our Mother/Daughter Tea. It was so wonderful to bring back this great event. Mothers and daughters attended 10:00 mass and then made their way to the cafeteria for refreshments and crafts. Our inspiring guest speaker was Danielle Santoro, daughter of our own Mrs. Sandra Santoro, Kindergarten aide. We thank all who were involved in making this event such a success.
Next Saturday, our mothers and sons from Grades 3 to 8 will have their very own event. Don't forget to sign up for our Mother/Son Dance. Thank you to Mrs. Herspring for donating a Movie Gift Bag to raffle off!
Acceptances have begun for new applicants. Please refer to my Bloomz message regarding re-registering for the 2024/2025 school year. Many classes are reaching capacity. If you have not re-registered, please make sure to do so as soon as possible.
Pizza Friday returns this Friday. Money is due no later than Wednesday, 3/20. We will not accept money any later than Wednesday, 8:30. If you do not give exact change, your money will be returned.
Please read below regarding an important update on lunch!!!!
Spring After School Club offerings will be out soon. More information to come.
Thank you for your participation in our World's Finest Chocolate fundraiser. Stay tuned with details on how much we made and what this money will go toward. Isabella Gardner, Pre-K 4, was the winner of the $25 Amazon gift card for selling the most boxes. Our 7th Grade won the pizza party and an afternoon of recess for being the class that sold the most boxes.
Lateness has become a problem. Please make every effort to get your child here between 8:00 and 8:10. As a reminder, a student's conduct grade will drop one letter grade for every six latenesses on their report card. We are just about at the midpoint of the third quarter. Please be mindful of the amount of latenesses your child has accrued so far.
Please read through the "Reminders" section below.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation,
Michelle LaMassa - Principal

Parking Lot Reminders
Please review parking lot reminders:
- Please do not park in the upper lot for drop off in the morning. Not following the procedures could result in someone getting hurt. We must do everything we can to keep everyone safe.
-When waiting for school to be dismissed, please do not let your car idle in the parking lot. Allowing your cars to idle, releasing the exhaust, is not healthy for anyone to breathe. Please shut your car off when waiting in the parking lot.
-Starting tomorrow, 3/18, Grade 2 will move to the driveway between the church and rectory for pick up. The construction is complete, so Grade 2 is now able to move away from the statue of Mary and get picked up in their original pick up spot.
- Now that the nice weather is upon us, families tend to hang around after pick up. While I love that friends, both adults and children alike, enjoy talking to one another and playing, I must ask that we be safe about it. The oval is active. If you stay after school, please move to the field so that our children remain safe. Adult supervision is a must at all times.
- When finding a parking spot in the main lot, you must not block the rectory driveway, make your own parking spot, or move/run over the blue cones. The blue cones belong to the parish. If they are in a designated area it is because we cannot park there. Please be mindful of where you are parking at pick up.
Thank you for your cooperation regarding the above matters.

Reminders
- Early Release Form - This form was included in your packet. The office needs 24 hours notice for early release. We ask that you do all that you can to avoid picking up your child early. This form can be found on our website under Handbooks, Forms, and Policies. Please do not ignore the 24 hour notice. Thank you!
- Food sent to School - Please do not send food to school, such as McDonald's etc. This includes any type of Doordash and Grubhub. As well do not bring fast food to the office in their lunch bags. Lunch, for the time being, needs to be brought from home. If lunch needs to be dropped off it cannot be fast food or by a delivery service. Thank you for your cooperation!
- Parking - Parents, please do not park in any of the spots in the oval in front of the school. Those spots are for ICS and PREP office staff. Please utilize the spots in the main parking lot.
- Lateness - Please be mindful of lateness. 6 or more latenesses will result in a drop in Conduct grade on the report card.
- Bloomz - Please do not use Bloomz to send me messages. As you can imagine, I am inundated with Bloomz communication as I am on all teachers' lists. If you need to be in touch with me, please use email. I would hate to miss a message you sent me on Bloomz because I didn't see it. Thank you for your cooperation.
- Formality - Please be mindful that we are a bit more formal at ICS. When addressing teachers and staff, please use their correct title, such as Mr., Mrs. or Ms. Thank you for your cooperation.

Lunch Program
Lunch
Dear ICS Families,
Our next Pizza Friday will be March 20th. Moving forward, all you will need to do is send money to your child's teacher. Money is due Wednesday morning, 3/22, by 8:30am. There will be no more exceptions. The pizza order is called in to the pizzeria on Wednesday morning.
Please follow these guidelines:
- Exact change is a must. Money will be sent home if it is not exact.
- Money must be given to each homeroom teacher. Teachers will not be providing other homeroom teachers with money you send in for the family. This gets confusing. Exact change needs to be given to each homeroom teacher.
- Only cash will be accepted.
- The envelope needs your child's name with number of slices (2 is the maximum)
- $2 per slice.
- Please do not combine pizza money with payments for other activities.
FINALLY!!!!
Starting when we return from Easter Break, I am so happy to announce that we will be offering a lunch special per day. We are so grateful to The Pizza Shop in Eastchester for offering this to ICS. Please refer to the lunch menu below. All ordering and payment will be made through Blackbaud. You will be able to order by the week. Orders must be made by each Thursday the week before. There are no exceptions. Drinks must be brought from home. Snacks will be sold each day, cash only. There are absolutely no refunds if your child is absent. More instructions will come soon. I thank you so much for your patience as we navigated through finding the right lunch program for our students.

March Calendar
AFTERCARE CORNER
Attendance and Punctuality
Being on time, and being present in school makes a very big difference. Please make every effort to have your children in school on time. Being late not only disrupts your child's education, but also disrupts the class.
School policy states 6, or more latenesses in a quarter will result in a drop of one letter grade in Conduct on the report card.
