School District 57
From the Desk of the Superintendent
May 14, 2024
Dear District 57 Community Members, Staff, Students, Teachers & Parents,
On behalf of the entire District 57 team, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for your active participation in our recent community engagement event held on May 2nd. Your presence, thoughtful contributions, and enthusiasm truly made the event a success.
The purpose of the event was to provide an opportunity for our community members to receive information pertaining to the status of our school buildings - in particular, Westbrook School for Young Learners and Lincoln Middle School - and to engage in a constructive dialogue about the capital improvement needs at Lincoln and the upcoming state-mandated transition to full-day kindergarten.
Our district's architect presented a comprehensive review of the facility needs at both Westbrook and Lincoln. You can view his presentation here. Whether these improvements entail renovations, new constructions, or making do with what we have, your input and insights are instrumental in shaping the direction we take.
I am particularly grateful for the lively discussions that took place at the tables focusing on the implementation of full-day kindergarten and the capital improvement needs at Lincoln Middle School. Below is a document that features the themes gathered from each of the table discussions:

As we move forward, please know that your voices are integral to our decision-making process. We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where every member of our community feels heard, valued, and empowered to contribute to the success of our schools.
Warm regards,
Superintendent of District 57 Schools
Dr. Mary Gorr
