A Message From Principal Kilpatrick
Dear Highlander Families,
As we wrap up September, I want to take a moment to reflect on the wonderful start to our school year. August and September have been months filled with growth, learning, and joyful moments within our classrooms. I am very proud of our student's hard work.
In the next two weeks, we will be wrapping up the end of the 1st grading period. Soon, your child's teacher will be contacting you for a beginning of the year parent/teacher conference to discuss academics. Please be on the look-out for their email.
Thank you to our wonderful families for the "Stock The Fridge" donations for our staff. The staff has been enjoying snacks and drinks provided by you all. We thank you!
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in your child's education. Together we will make this year a memorable one!
Vicki Kilpatrick, Principal

McAndrew Earned Purple Star Designation from TEA
Congratulations to Counselor, Amy Flores for her work with our Military students. Because of her hard work, McAndrew has earned a Purple Star Campus Designation! The Purple Star Campus Designation is a distinct honor created by the Texas Legislature to recognize Texas public schools and open-enrollment charter schools that show their support and commitment to meeting the unique needs of military-connected students and their families.

NISD student Survey
Northside ISD is committed to educating the whole child to include engaged learning and student academics, safety and security, social emotional development, and support for students, families, and staff. Therefore, we will be gathering input on student experiences in school. Students in grades 3-12 will be asked to participate in a survey.
Students who have developed knowledge and skills in social and emotional learning perform better academically. Students who are self aware, make good decisions, and can regulate their emotions have a better chance of thriving in school, career, and life. Students who can work collaboratively and communicate effectively are better able to
harness their academic knowledge to perform in school. Collecting student survey
feedback helps ensure educators are providing students with all necessary supports
to achieve academic success.
NISD is utilizing surveys to inform practices around supporting students, teachers, and families. This information helps teachers plan targeted strategies and supports as needed. Results support skill development for whole classrooms, small groups, or individual students. This way, all students have the opportunity to build the skills needed to be successful in the classroom.
Students’ responses will provide invaluable insight into their experiences. District and school leaders will use their responses to better support the whole child and improve both our district and our schools.
Surveys will be administered during school on October 8, 2024. If you do not want your child to participate in the survey, please contact Amy Flores, Counselor via email amy.flores@nisd.net by September 30th. If your child opts out of the fall survey, he/she will also be opted out for the spring survey.
