To report absences and schedueled vacations, please use the School Messenger- the preferred method for parents/guardians to report their child's absence, tardiness, or early departure.

Move-Up Day, June 5th
This year the faculty Move-Up Day Committee has worked to revise our yearly event to focus on making this special day all about the children.
On Wednesday, June 5th students will have the opportunity to ‘move-up’ to their new grade and meet one of the grade level teachers in a classroom setting. Students in grades K-3, will visit one of the new grade level classrooms and students in grade 4 and 5 will meet all 3 of the teachers as this is a departmentalized grade. This will give our children the chance to get excited about the next school year and will allow them to ask questions and check out their new books and environment.
Parents will get to meet their children's new teacher(s) at Back To School Night on Wednesday, September 18th, 6:30-7:45pm.
Sincerely,
The Move-Up Day Committee
North Penn Elementary Summer Program
Summer Enrichment Opportunity, K-6
In order to promote continuous learning and engagement over the summer, the North Penn School District will be offering opportunities for summer enrichment for all elementary students completing grades K-6. These offerings are recommended, but completely optional for students and families. Our goal is to share resources and activities throughout the month of July that are the perfect blend of academics and fun in order to best support continued engagement over the summer.
This program is designed for students to complete asynchronously, with the engagement of their families. Students will be invited into a class through Canvas, and activities will start to post on Monday, July 1st. New activities will be posted weekly, on subsequent Monday’s throughout the month of July (7/1, 7/8, 7/15, and 7/22). There will only be four weeks of engaging activities to stimulate creativity and encourage students to stay academically charged. However, the Canvas course will remain open until August 9th, so families have the flexibility to access the summer learning opportunities when it’s convenient for you!
If you are interested in gaining access to our summer learning Canvas course for your child, please register your child on the Infinite Campus Portal by June 10th. Here are written directions to access the registration portal and here is a video overview as well. If you need support accessing the Canvas course, or any resources within the course, please contact North Penn Family Tech at _npennfamilytech@npenn.org
Literacy Note Of The Week
DIVE INTO READING
Minutes are beginning to add up!. Some classrooms are moving along faster than others. Remember to read every night with your child. Even students in the older grades will benefit from reading to or with a parent. Here is a copy of the weekly reading log if you need a new one.
Students will receive a raffle ticket for every ten minutes they read throughout the week. These tickets are for chances to win one of the twenty-nine raffle baskets or the mystery box! Additionally, if our combined total of reading minutes is 150,000, North Wales’ staff will present the Second Annual Masked Singer during a school-wide assembly.

Juneteenth- June 19th
Even though the Emancipation Proclamation was made effective in 1863, it could not be implemented in places still under Confederate control. As a result, in the westernmost Confederate state of Texas, enslaved people would not be free until much later.Freedom finally came on June 19, 1865, when some 2,000 Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas. The army announced that the more than 250,000 enslaved black people in the state, were free by executive decree. This day came to be known as "Juneteenth," by the newly freed people in Texas. Juneteenth marks our country’s second independence day. Although it has long celebrated in the African American community, this monumental event remains largely unknown to most Americans.
