1. Please send all money for books and name tags to the media center by 9:30 am so the money can be turned into Moira on time. Please do not leave money in Mrs. Cuthbertson's mailbox.
2. Until further notice the media center is not able to make nametags. We are waiting on a new machine from the county. Thank you for understanding.
3. If the media center door is open please come on in and return books. Leave books in the book return when the library is closed.
4. For safety, please help make sure that the Media Exit door is closed behind your class.

Using libraries is a great way to supplement your classroom library.

School Library

• Unlimited Checkout at one time.
• Free delivery service.
• You can put books on hold through Destiny. To sign-in use your CCS username and password.
• Email Mrs. Cuthbertson with a topic or book title you are looking for and the number of books requested.

Public Library

• Check out 50 books at a time.
• Put books on hold through the library system.

• Online library that you and your students can access through Clever. It is similar to Epic!
• Tie your account to NC Digital Kids for more books to check out. Contact Mrs. Cuthbertson if you would like help connecting your students.
• Students and staff can also tie their county library cards to the account for even more books to choose from and check out.
• Open 24/7/365 for FREE
  

• The picture book focus for this year's Global Read Aloud is Minh Le. The kick off for the Global Read Aloud is Oct. 7 and will last until Nov. 15.

Britannica School is an authoritative online encyclopedia with interfaces for elementary, middle, and high school learners. Dynamic content includes articles, photos, videos, and primary sources, Britannica Escolar is also available en espanol.

The EBSCO app provides access to databases, eBooks, Periodicals, Reference Centers & Collections. Popular features include New Explora for grand band access, using "Publication Finder" for digital/PDF access to resources like Scholastic News, and the "Points of View" which has resources showing various perspectives on issues.

Located in the "NC Educators Resources" tab, PBS Learning Media has subject/grade aligned videos and supporting materials that can be shared with students and linked in Canvas.

Students are encouraged to decorate a paper pumpkin as a book character. The papers can be found in the media center. Please return them to the media center or Mrs. Cuthbertson's Mailbox.

The "Dead"line for submitting pumpkins is October 22, 2024.

Directions

• Students MUST fill in the back of the form with their personal information as well as the title of the book, author, and book character.
• MUST be original student work.
• Students should not send in real pumpkins painted or carved.

Contest

• Media Center staff will pick the top 10 from each grade level to put on display October 23, 2024.
• There will be awards for the best pumpkins including a "student" and "staff" choice. Voting will be done via Google form Oct 23-29.
• Winners will be announced on the news on Thursday, October 31st.
