Welcome to the 2024-25 School Year!
A Message from the Superintendent
Dear Avoca Families,
It is my honor to welcome you to the 2024-2025 school year!
Yesterday, we opened our doors at Avoca West and Marie Murphy to our students in first grade through eighth grade, and today we welcomed them back for day two. I am happy to report that our first couple of days have been an overwhelming success as shown through the smiles seen all around from students and staff.
As the proud, new Superintendent of Avoca School District 37, I cannot think of a better way to start the year. The excitement that our students bring makes me feel so energized. I can tell by their faces that they are ready to be inspired, to grow, and to be nurtured by us.
The momentum of the first days of school increases my resolve further to live our mission to inspire curiosity, cultivate academic growth, and nurture diversity. My hope for every single one of our students is that they can dream and imagine their own unique path in life. I wholeheartedly embrace the Avoca Mission because as Superintendent-Elect last year, I had the distinct privilege of gaining a deep understanding of the Avoca district by engaging in meaningful collaboration with its various stakeholders.
This year I am looking forward to connecting with our students in their classrooms, school assemblies, halls, and extracurricular activities. I am also looking forward to meeting and engaging with their parents, caretakers, and families, who love and care for them deeply. I want to thank you for sending us the most amazing human beings and for your steadfast support of our District. We appreciate you!
Next week, we will embark on week two, and we will meet our preschool and kindergarten students - we cannot wait! I am positive that the excitement will continue for all.
Let’s have a wonderful school year!
Respectfully,
Sandra Arreguín, EdD
Superintendent
Avoca School District 37
