From the Principal.... Matt Clark
Good afternoon and Happy New Year, Thompson families! I hope you all enjoyed a fun and restful winter break, with just the right balance of relaxation and fun. It’s been wonderful seeing everyone’s smiling faces back at school this week, ready to tackle 2025. Our first week back has been fantastic, and I couldn’t be prouder of how our students and staff have hit the ground running.
As we dive into this semester, I’m reminded of how quickly time flies—especially for our 8th graders. This is their final semester at Thompson before heading to high school, a bittersweet reminder of how brief the middle school years are. Yet, in these three short years, students experience incredible growth—not just physically but also in discovering who they are and who they want to become. To our 8th-grade parents, cherish these final months of middle school. Encourage your teenagers to savor the fun moments this semester as they prepare for the exciting transition ahead.
For our 6th and 7th-grade families, remember that middle school passes faster than a trending TikTok. As a parent myself, I can attest to how precious these moments are. They’re filled with growth, challenges, and the milestones that shape our kids. Enjoy every science project, school event, and yes, even the endless debates about screen time—it’s all part of the journey.
Here’s to a fantastic semester ahead full of learning, laughter, and lasting memories!

2025…
It’s great to think about the start of a new year! Whether reflecting on the past year or gearing up for fresh goals in the new year, there’s just something special about the year 2025. The square root of 2025 is 45 which is a perfect power (square). It can be written as a sum of positive squares in only one way. For example, 729 + 1296 = 27^2 + 36^2.
Others include: (20+25)^, (1+2+3+3+4+5+6+7+8+9)^ (power indicator is 2), and 1^+2^+3^+4^+5^+6^+7^+8^+9^ (power indicator is 3)
Happy New Year! This is going to be a powerful year!
