Friendship soup was made and enjoyed last Friday afternoon! Fifth and sixth-grade Falcons cooked up a batch after watching a video that explained the process of making friendship soup and the importance of a healthy friendship. Students had the opportunity to add ingredients, and many did. In the soup, you could find kindness, safety, love, and even a little bit of disagreement—along with many other important components.

Once the soup was well stirred, Chisholm and Bashaw dished out small amounts for students to keep in their desks as a souvenir and a reminder of the importance of friendship.

VT schools are required to practice Options Based Response Procedures three times each school year. On Wednesday, February 4th, SACS had one of these Options Based Safety Drills. Teachers provided a simple and short classroom discussion, based on age appropriate information, to discuss with students what a lockdown procedure is, and what it might look like.

Enrollment is now open for students entering Kindergarten at Saint Albans City School in August 2025! If your child is already enrolled in a Maple Run Preschool program or Act 166, you still need to complete the required forms to register.

How to Enroll:

• New students (not in Pre-K at SACS): Fill out the School Interest Form at www.maplerun.org/page/school-registration.
• Current Pre-K students at SACS: Log into the Parent Portal (maplerun.powerschool.com) to complete enrollment forms.

Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS)

Grades 6-8

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Our school is taking part in the 2025 Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) . This was developed in 1991 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and is sponsored by the Vermont Department of Health and Agency of Education. The YRBS gathers information about health risk behaviors of 6th through 12th grade students. Schools, communities, and state agencies will use the results of the survey to evaluate programs, plan new programs and to secure future funding. We are planning to administer the survey to our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students on February 10-13. If you would like to see the survey, a copy is available to view here. If you do not want your child to participate in the survey, please complete the opt out form and return it to Kristen Hersey in the School Counselor’s Office. Copies of the opt out form were sent home and are also available to download here

Forms must be returned by February 7, 2025.
