Principal's Message
Dear Duniway School Community,
Happy Friday! There are officially only ten days of school left! We've had a terrific week here at Duniway, full of year-end fun, field trips, and excitement. And we're looking forward to more exciting events like our parade and carnival next week on June 7th! This event is one of the most time-honored traditions at Duniway, a testament to our strong community spirit. We still have 30 unfilled volunteer slots, all about an hour long. Your participation is what makes this a special night for our community. Please help us by signing up here:

Thank you to everyone who came last evening to our Spring Showcase. Students did a terrific job of preparing materials and showing off their learning. Thank you to Mrs. Adams for leading students and families through folk dancing in the cafeteria.
The playground construction has hit a small bump; they mailed the wrong slide. Unfortunately, it seems unlikely that the team will finish the job before the end of the school year. However, we're optimistic that it will be completed in time for the kindergarten meetups this summer. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
We had a rare midweek assembly to celebrate Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander Month. Students talked about the cultural and historical contributions made by AANHPI folks, 3rd graders presented for the entire school, and 4th graders played taiko drums. Check out the video here: https://youtu.be/ohK8DPU87hc
Have a wonderful weekend, and I look forward to seeing you at the parade and carnival next week.
Best.

Duniway Carnival June 7th
The CARNIVAL is Coming to Duniway - June 7th from 5-8pm
Can you help us make the Duniway Carnival a huge success? The carnival is a beloved Duniway tradition put on entirely by the PTA. This is a volunteer heavy event and we need your support to pull it off. Please consider donating a few hours of your time to support the event. We need volunteers to help set up, run the booths, take down and sell tickets in advance of the event. Please sign up for a slot (or two!) on Konstella
Ordering Yearbooks...on the late side
If you didn't order your student's yearbook for this year, don't worry. You can still get one! Since we have already put in our order and have received our yearbooks for this year, if you do decide to make an order, you will have to pay for shipping to have it sent to your home.

Summer Dates for Incoming Kindergarten Students
July 13 and August 17 - Summer Family Connect Event
- The PTA will be hosting a gathering for families with incoming kindergarten students from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the Duniway playground.
August 27 and August 28 - Family Conversations
- Teachers will be reaching out in late August to schedule individual in-person family conversations. You and your child will have a chance to look around the classroom and talk to the teacher in a one-to-one setting.
August 29 and August 30 - Ramp Up Days
- Prior to the first day of school, your student will have a chance to come in for one full-day “warm up” on either Thursday, August 29th or Friday, August 30th. This is a great opportunity for your child to be with a small group of peers, practice a day with their teacher, and start to become familiar with the Kindergarten routine. Because teachers plan for individual students, they are not able to switch Ramp Up days. Please mark your calendars:
- August 29th: Students who meet the teacher on August 27th will attend 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
- August 30th: Students who meet the teacher on August 28th will attend 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
September 3 - First Full Day of School for Kindergarten Students
