Dear Buena Vista Parents,
I hope you are all doing well. We are right into the swing of things here at Buena Vista. I want to thank the PTA for hosting Outdoor Movie Night last Friday. It was well attended and a great success! If you are planning on ordering your child any BV spirit wear, the store will close on August 31st, so make sure to submit your order before then.
School pictures are tomorrow! Don't forget to send your child to school with a smile.
School Safety Reminder
Parents, please follow all traffic laws in your car when dropping your child off at school. Please NEVER have your child exit your car on the "street side" of your vehicle. This is extremely dangerous. Students should always be on the curb or sidewalk side of the car. Also, please be kind and considerate of our crossing guards. They are there for student safety and we appreciate all that they do to support us at Buena Vista.
School Learning
For the months of August and September all classes are focusing on Growth Mind-Set and Goal Setting for their social emotional learning. Every morning their teacher will start the day with a morning meeting and every week they will introduce a learning goal. During this time, children learn how to pay attention and manage distractions, develop a growth mindset, and apply goal-setting strategies to their social and academic lives. It will look a little different at every grade level, but all the topics align with building a growth mind-set and setting learning goals. Here is some more information about our Second Step Program. Please ask your child's teacher if you have any questions.
