Attendance
Absences
Students should only be absent from school because of illness or emergency situations. Please inform the school office by 9:00AM for EACH day your child will be sick or late.
You can report your child's absence using the Hero app, or phone (06) 358 1735 to leave a message on the absentee line. If we don’t hear from you, we will text you to follow up any unexplained absences.
Lateness
If your child is late for school (after 9:00am) he/she must report to the school office to collect a late pass and have their name checked off.
Student illness
If a student becomes ill during school, we will call you to collect your child and take them home. It is important to provide the school office with updated contact numbers so parents/caregivers may be reached concerning illness, or in the event of an emergency.
School Communication
Hero app
Hero is Awapuni School's administration, communication, and student reporting app. Parents can log in to the app to receive notifications for any new school communications and updates on your child's learning progress. Please use the email address provided at enrolment to create an account.
Newsletters
Newsletters are published fortnightly on Monday afternoons from the second week of each term.
These are shared on the Hero app, our Facebook page and uploaded to the school website.
Finance
The Awapuni School Board has opted into the school donations scheme for 2025. This means we've agreed not to request families pay donations or contributions for curriculum-based costs, and the school receives additional funding from the government.
Parents/caregivers are still expected to pay for their child's uniform items, stationery and any extra-curricular activities they are involved in (e.g. sports fees, music lessons). You can find more information about school costs and donations on the Ministry of Education website.
Hero Finance
Parents and caregivers can view student billing statements at anytime in Hero. Payments for outstanding items can be made directly from the finance page in the app, or by direct credit to the school's bank account: ASB | 12-3142-0505673-000
Please contact the office for any student billing related queries, or if you would like to set up a payment plan.
