Dressing for the Cold Weather
With the Winter Weather, please be sure to send your student(s) with appropriate clothing for the chilly weather. Students will be outside for morning arrival and recess when possible.
Please try and label student jackets on the inside with their names to help with the Lost & Found.
Cumberland PTO Glow Lunch/Recess
Special thanks to our Cumberland PTO and parent volunteers for hosting the PTO Glow Lunch/Recess just before Winter Break. Students were able to enjoy this fun event!
ACCESS Testing for Multilingual Learners
As we plan ahead, we wanted to give you a heads up about an upcoming assessment. We will be giving the ACCESS Assessment to students that qualified for English Language services. This annual assessment is an English language proficiency assessment that monitors students' progress in acquiring academic English. This will start on Wednesday January 15, 2025.
Extra Clothes for All Students
We expect all families to send an extra set of clothes to keep in your student's locker to have in case of accidents (inclement weather, lunch spills, etc.).
Required Clothing to Play in the Snow
Just a friendly reminder that if families want their student(s) to play in the snow during recess they will need to come to school with the following clothing items:
- Jacket
- Snow Pants
- Gloves
- Boots
- Winter hat or hood
Cumberland Monthly PBIS Focus - January
Positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) is an approach schools use to promote school safety and good behavior. This month students are learning about: being a good listener. During social emotional learning time, they will work through class discussions, listen to read alouds from staff, and engage in other activities with their class centered around the monthly focus.
One way you can support this monthly focus at home is to have conversations with your child(ren) about our monthly themes.

Cumberland Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO)
The Cumberland PTO supports students and teachers throughout each year through hosting community events, fundraising, and providing many opportunities for community members to volunteer. Please join us for the monthly PTO Meeting on Wednesday, January 8th at 7pm. The meeting will be held virtually. More information will be sent out the week of the meeting as well as the link for the virtual meeting.

Free & Reduced Lunch
- Free and Reduced Meal applications are available on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal in English and Spanish. District 62 has also provided pre application instructions on the district website in English, Spanish, Polish, and Russian and can be accessed by clicking here.
- If you are interested in applying for free and reduced meals, please do so in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. If you have any additional questions, please contact your school’s main office.
