Parent Newsletter
Back to School Parent Communication 2024-2025
Dear Kleb Intermediate Families,
As we wrap up the first quarter of the school year during the month of October, I want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible progress our students have made in the triple A’s of Academics, Arts and Athletics. It’s truly inspiring to see our students embracing challenges and achieving their goals!
As we assess our students' academic progress at this point in the year, I encourage you to review their beginning-of-the-year MAP scores, which are available in Skyward. These scores provide a valuable snapshot of your child's strengths and areas for growth. You will also find your students’ grades in Skyward along with their Q1 report card on October 25. Additionally, IXL progress can be monitored on your student's dashboard, offering insight into their ongoing development in math and language arts. To stay informed about what your child is expected to learn and master each quarter, please take a moment to review the KISD Family Curriculum Guides. This resource will help you understand the learning objectives and support your child's educational journey effectively. Please use this link to help you with access to Skyward: Family Access / Skyward 101
I’m thrilled to share how proud I am of our student athletes in volleyball, football and cross country—they are shining on and off the field/court! I hope to see you all at our Spirit Tailgate on October 21 starting at 5:30 PM. It’s a fantastic opportunity to show our support as our football team faces Doerre Intermediate. Let’s come together as a community to cheer them on!
Additionally, our orchestra and choir fall concerts have been second to none and I look forward to the band concert that will take place October 30. I am so grateful for the hard work our students have put in to create such a joyful noise! Their talent and dedication truly shine through in every performance.
Our student clubs are also underway, providing excellent opportunities for our students to explore their interests, develop new skills, and build friendships. Please be sure to check out the list of clubs and links available in this newsletter and on our website.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Together, we can ensure that our students thrive both academically and personally.
Warm regards,
Spring Payne

Important Kleb Student Information
Kleb Core Matrix
Please refer to the Kleb Core Matrix here.
After School Event Expectations
Students must remain in dress code, including wearing their own school-issued ID badge, and may not remain on campus after the school day is over to wait for the game/performance to start.
All students must either remain sitting with an adult or in the student section ONLY.
No foul language will be used and all students will follow the Kleb Core expectations at all times.
No backpacks and no outside food/drinks will be allowed at after-school events, including games and performances.
Students should stay seated in the stands unless it is halftime or between games. Students will start calling for rides at the beginning of 4th quarter and/or during the second set of volleyball.
Once the game is over all student spectators must exit the stadium/gym or event, students will not be supervised once they exit the stadium/campus.
Should a student not adhere to Kleb Core (R.I.S.E) and/or student code of conduct, they may not be allowed to attend other events.
ID badges
Safety is our number one priority. All students will receive a new ID at the beginning of the school year. ID badges are required to be worn by all students at Kleb around their neck on a lanyard with the student name and photo visible. ID badges are required for the safety of all Klein ISD students. Student non-compliance with wearing ID badges will result in disciplinary action (see below). Students must be wearing their own permanent ID badge in order to get into any extracurricular activities (sporting events, etc.) ID badges are part of our dress code.
If a student does not have their ID badge when they get to school on any given day, they will need to get a temporary ID band (cost $1 each time) at the ID station in the cafeteria before school. ID consequences start over at the beginning of each grading period. Consequences are given as follows:
1st Offense:
Purchase Temporary ($1), Warning
2nd Offense:
Purchase Temporary ($1), Parent Contact (AP Office)
3rd Offense:
Purchase Temporary ($1), 1 Before/After School Detention
4th Offense:
Purchase Temporary ($1), 2 Before/After School Detention
5th Offense:
Purchase Temporary ($1), 3 Before/After School Detention OR 1 Saturday School
6th Offense:
Purchase Permanent ($5), 1 Day ISS
Additional Offenses:
Considered Major Non-Compliance
*Kleb Administration has the right to adjust the consequences at any time.
Please review the Safety and Security at School information at Kleinisd.net.
Student Cell Phone Policy
No phones are allowed to be used during the school day. Cell phones will only be allowed before students arrive on campus and after students leave campus. If a parent/guardian needs to get a message to their student, they should call the school to have the message delivered to them.
Cell phones will not be permitted in the hallway, in the classroom, restroom, or in the cafeteria.
The expectation is that PRIOR to entering the building, students will put away their phones and headphones (wired or wireless) in their backpack and/or purse, remaining concealed until the end of the school day. Students should not have their phone in their hand or pocket. Students who fail to meet this expectation will be immediately sent to their administrator’s office with their phone to be turned in to the grade level discipline office.
Phones that are turned into the office are required to be picked up by the student’s parent/guardian. No phones will be given back to students once they have been turned in to the office.
Students may only wear wired headphones during instructional time, per teacher direction. No bluetooth or wireless earbuds will be allowed in the classroom or on campus at any time, as this poses a safety issue.
Student Tardies
Tardy Definition: At Kleb Intermediate, a student is considered tardy if they are not inside the doorway of the classroom at the time the bell is finished ringing for the beginning of class.
Tardy Consequences: Tardy counts start over at the beginning of each week. Consequences are given as follows:
1 Tardy-Free
2 Tardies-Warning
3 Tardies-1 day Before/After School Detention
4 Tardies-2 days Before/After School Detentions
5 Tardies-3 days Before/After School Detentions
OR
6+ Tardies-1 day ISS
*Kleb Administration has the right to adjust the consequences at any time.
Students more than 15 minutes late to class are considered absent without permission (truant) and a discipline referral will be submitted. If a student is consistently late to class without trying, this is not just tardy, but considered out of area or noncompliant. A tardy will be issued to the student and behavior consequences can be given in addition to tardy consequences.
Student Dress Code
Please refer to the Student Handbook here. Students who do not adhere to the dress code will face discipline based on the student code of conduct.
Fees
Any student who owes fees will not be allowed to attend any extracurricular events, including games, dances, field day, snack day, etc. Please check your student’s SchoolCashOnline account on a regular basis to pay any outstanding fees (ID fees, etc.) so they may participate in these events.

Arrival and dismissal procedures
Drop-Off
The school building will open at 8:35 am for student entry. If your students is dropped off before 8:35 am they will not be supervised which poses a safety concern. Students may be dropped off before school in the Lyons Road Parking Lot ONLY. Please remain in your vehicle and follow the car rider drop-off line, which enters by the tennis courts on Lyons Road. Parking in the Kleb parking lot is NOT ALLOWED as students would be crossing bus traffic.
Pick-Up
Students may ONLY be picked up after school in the Lyons Road Parking Lot for after-school dismissal. Students MAY NOT be picked up in the front of the school for after-school dismissal. All car riders will exit the building by the gym entrance for pick-up. Parking in the Klein HS parking lot is not allowed and students will not be permitted to walk across the parking lot. To alleviate traffic on Lyons Road parents will make two lanes. Once you get to the cones, we will make one lane. Cars will exit airport style. Please be mindful when the Klein High School Band is practicing. For the safety of your child, please remain in your vehicle while in the car rider line and follow the directions of school staff to ensure everyone’s safety.
