A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
LCTC Community,
I can’t believe next week is the end of the first marking period, that sure flew by fast! We have Common Summative Assessments next week on Thursday, October 24th. CSA’s are worth 10% of the marking period grade. The marking period ends next Friday, October 25th. Please take some time to check grades online before the end of the marking period.
Please see below for upcoming Parent-Teacher conference information. Parent-teacher conferences are a great opportunity to discuss your child’s academic progress, address any concerns, and build a strong parent-teacher partnership.
I hope everyone has a wonderful, restful weekend.
Mrs. Gray
LCTC Principal

ENGINEERING DESIGN CLASS
The Engineering Design Class had a great experience at Manufacturing Day on October 3rd at Webasto Corporation in Plymouth, MI. There was also a post-secondary presentation lunch and tour of their programs at Wayne County Community College.
PRE-MEDICINE CLASSES
Students from Pre-Med learned how to save lives by becoming CPR certified! They worked very hard all week long and had to take a written test then a hands-on test to earn their certification. Pre-Med had 121 students be certified!
Congratulations to all of them! Hard work pays off.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE CLASSES
LCTC criminal justice students learn important lifesaving skills. High quality CPR skills have proven to increase a patient's chance of survival and police are often the first on the scene of these incidents.
CAREER INTERN PROGRAM
Betty Adams and Justin Ricotta (both CHS students) at their career internship in Livonia.
CIP students visiting Schoolcraft's Manufacturing and Engineering Center.
MORE CIP STUDENTS HARD AT WORK
Lauryn Dogan (SHS) interning with the Detroit Police Department's crime scene investigation unit.
Kennedy Perez (FHS) and Alexis Perez (FHS) interning at St. Mary's Hospital.
CIP students measuring their social media time and discussing the influence social media has on teens.
Lila Bonser- Interning at Corewell Health Dearborn Hospital using the "scrub vending machine" for her shift:)
ADV. & PRE-SPORTS MEDICINE CLASSES
120 students in Mrs.Spark's and Ms.G's Pre-Sports Medicine and Advanced Sports Medicine classes were certified in Basic Life Support, including CPR and choking safety, through the American Heart Association last week. This makes our entire community safer as the more citizens CPR certified, the safer we all should be! It's also a great accomplishment and a potential career booster when students this age are able to add this valuable credential to their resume!
PRE-SPORTS MEDICINE CLASSES
Ms.G's Pre-Sports Medicine class has been learning about the anatomical directional terms used in medicine when referring to the human body. This week they did a formative assessment of this information by creating a clay skeleton. This type of assessment gives Ms.G immediate visual feedback as to whether the students are understanding the information and she is able to correct them/re-teach right away to ensure that learning is really happening! The students had to place the flags in the correct spot on their skeleton in relation to the terms Ms.G was using. Lastly, they had to perform a few different incisions through their skeletons to replicate the different body planes but rest assured, no real skeletons were injured during this learning activity.
Supporting Youth Going Back to School
Dear Parents and Guardians of the Livonia Public Schools School Community,
As the new school year begins, supporting our youth's mental health is more important than ever. The new school year can bring feelings of both anxiety and excitement as students transition into a new grade, perhaps a new school, and are all in turn learning and growing into who they are.
We have provided a Back to School resource packet for parents and teachers who are navigating through this time. Click here to access to the flyer.
By working together, we can create an environment where our children thrive. Remember, Care Solace offers valuable mental health care coordination services to connect you with community-based providers for counseling, therapy, and more.
To access Care Solace:
- Call 888-515-0595: Their multilingual helpline is staffed 24/7/365.
- Visit www.caresolace.com/livonia: Explore mental health providers independently or click "Book Appointment" for personalized assistance.
By joining hands as a community, we can provide a nurturing environment that supports the mental health and well-being of our youth. Let's prioritize their emotional growth and create a brighter future together.
Thank you for being dedicated parents in the Livonia Public Schools community. Your commitment to our youth is truly commendable.
