The Owl Post
March 1, 2024
Hey, fabulous Vernon Owls! Guess what? This month, we're shining the spotlight on two super important IB Learner Profile traits: "Principled" and "Caring Communicator." These aren't just words, they're some of the secret ingredients that make our owl community soar higher and higher!
So, what's this "Principled" thing all about? It's like being the superhero of honesty, integrity, and fairness. It's choosing the high road, even when it's tough. Let's show off our superpowers by being rockstars of integrity in everything we do - whether it's acing a test or just being awesome friends.
Now, onto "Caring Communicator" - sounds like something out of a comic book, right? It's all about being the MVP of listening, empathy, and making sure everyone's voice is heard. Let's spread those warm fuzzies by chatting it up with kindness and understanding!
Calling all Vernon Owls - from our littlest pygmy to our wise old owls (and everyone in between), let's band together to sprinkle some kindness, empathy, and teamwork magic all over our nest. Together, we'll make Vernon the kindest, most inclusive place to learn and grow. Who's ready to be the superheroes of our own story? Let's do this, Owls!
Vernon Proud,
Ben Keefer
Principal

WHAT IS RAISE CRAZE?
Vernon Raise Craze is a month-long drive to be better community members, paying it forward by completing Acts of Kindness (AOKs) out in the community - A great way to learn the values of kindness and gratitude, without having to sell anything.
There’s an online platform enabling participants to set up secure, custom websites where they request donations via email, text, and social.
WHY?
We want to continue to make our school a better place by providing helpful and enriching benefits to our students & families, via classroom support, student experiences and more! We’ve chosen Raise Craze to help with these needs because it keeps kindness and inclusivity at the center, while allowing our school to keep 90% or more!
