Message from Mrs. Williams
CCI Families,
🤖Good luck to our Robotics teams!
This Saturday, two of our robotics teams will compete at Lincoln Trail. Best of luck to Team C (Emily Houchins, Clara Hilsmeyer, Iris Jones, Olive Steftenagel, and Audrie Brinkman) and Team D (Ella Heeke, Oliver Gatwood, Logan Schwartz, Brennan Grissom, Jeremiah Smith, and Owen Mohr) as they represent CCI in the VEX Robotics tournament.
Next Saturday, the remaining two teams will showcase their skills at William Tell Elementary. Team A includes Kaleb Demontigny, Carter Beier, and Kealin White, while Team B features Liam Cooper, Zaine Granderson, Easton Novak, Paxton Klem, and Garrett Sickbert.
😃 Our Robotics teams are coached by Ms. Schroering and Ms. Sitzman.
We’re so proud of all our students for their hard work and dedication. Best of luck! 🚀
🎀. Exciting New Program for 6th Grade Girls!
Did you know?
- 5th and 6th grade girls experience the largest decline in self-perception and the biggest increase in sadness and depression.
- Girls’ confidence drops significantly between 5th and 9th grade.
These eye-opening statistics from The 2023 Girls' Index reflect challenges faced by girls across the nation—and right here at CCI. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce the launch of the ROX (Ruling Our eXperiences) program at CCI starting in February!
This 20-week, evidence-based program will meet during the school day with a group of 10–15 sixth-grade girls, empowering them to build confidence, take charge of their relationships, make decisions, and create brighter futures.
Learn more by watching this 1-minute video: ROX Overview.
For additional information email Haylee Hoffman at haylee.hoffman@sedubois.k12.in.us or call 812-510-3935.
ROX is for all girls—because every girl deserves to shine!

- Supervise lunch and recess so our staff can enjoy a well-deserved break.
- Bring in desserts to sweeten their day!
If you’re willing to help supervise or contribute a dessert, please sign up here.
Thank you for supporting our team – your kindness makes a big difference! ❤️
📘 School-Wide Read Aloud: Out of My Mind by Sharon Draper started Monday, January 13
A heartfelt story about Melody, an 11-year-old girl with cerebral palsy, showcasing her intelligence, determination, and resilience. 🌟 Why This Book? It encourages empathy, understanding, and perseverance—core values for our students. 🗣️ What’s Happening at School? Students will engage in class discussions and activities inspired by the book. A shared reading experience will connect students across both grade levels. 💬 How Can You Help? Talk with your child about the book! Ask questions like: ❔ “What have you learned from Melody’s story?” “What do you admire about her journey?”

6th Grade Field Trip Info
We are excited about the 6th grade field trip on Thursday, March 20th to Louisville. Students will experience Top Golf, The Kentucky Derby Museum, and an IMAX video (most likely in 3D). The 6th graders will need to bring a sack lunch, but the rest of the field trip for students is paid for by the PTO funds (mostly Walk-a-thon donations).
We would love to have you come as a parent chaperone. If you want to chaperone, please complete the Google Form. You will need to have a background check completed. (Background checks are good for 2 years.) The form is due in two weeks for parent chaperones on Friday, January 31st.
