Career Academy Newsletter
May 2019
Mrs. Katie Towler, Career Academy Principal
Just a few more weeks before our first year in our new facility comes to a close. We've had more successes than challenges and more laughter than tears. It has truly been an exceptional year.
One of our goals at the Career Academy is to remain nimble and in that fashion the fall of 2019 will bring with it some new and expanded programming. We are proud to be growing our Agriculture Pathway adding three additional college courses and a full time instructor, Mrs. Taylor Weidauer. We give special thanks to our partnership with WIT and Morningside College for lending Mr. Dan Witten to us this year. He created a strong foundation for the future of our Agriculture pathway. We couldn't have done it without his guidance and passion.
We are excited to be adding to our Health Science Pathway with the onset of Principles of Biomedical Science which will premier this fall. Mrs. Courtney Greene and Mrs. Niki Coughlin will share the reigns of this cutting edge course.
We've been blessed with partnerships across industry in Siouxland and look forward to strengthening the invaluable relationships. Most importantly, we are proud of our students. They have stretched, excelled, persevered and in the end succeeded. We can't wait to do it all again next year!
Mr. Jeff Lucas, Career Academy Guidance Counselor
A few reminder as the school year is getting close to the end:
1. Students who are wanting to take WITCC courses next year can now register for Fall 2019 courses. Career Academy students can meet with either Mr. Lucas or Mrs. Grau to register and check into WITCC transfer agreements with any colleges they are considering after high school.
2. College campus visits: even though most colleges are wrapping up their spring semester in the next week or two, high school students can still schedule campus visits over the summer months. Getting on campuses can play a big part in the decision making process.
3. The registration deadline for the June ACT exam is this Friday, May 3rd.
4. Seniors, there are still a few last minute scholarships out there. Check your Fast Web account if you have one.
