Conway Catch-Up
Summer Edition #2
Goooooood Morning #OneFamily!
You know the coolest thing about this community for the last 15 years.....YOU SHOW UP! Loved the energy, the excitement, and the absolute pure fun on Friday night at out Trunk or Treat at SHS. We were super worried about people not making the extra few mile trip over to SHS. You sure did not disappoint. We are waiting to see exact numbers of parking spots that SHS has, but we believe we had upwards of 1000 people show up Friday night. So so so cool. Thanks for making this the best place in the world for kids (and principals) to learn and grow. Sure hope to see you at some of our other upcoming events.
A huge thank you to our PTA volunteers for making Trunk or Treat possible. It took quite a few cars and volunteers to go mobile to SHS and we are so very thankful for all those who jumped in to help. Also, a huge thank you to Lisa, Elizabeth, and Rick Deresz for bringing a beautiful Native American Heritage presentation to our school on Friday. Because of them, all of our kiddos were able to see true Native American dances, songs, regalia, and drums. It was a beautiful experience!
Let's get this week rollin':
Here is a rundown of the latest information to keep you in the know!

Need Your Help: Last week, we sent home the green impact aid forms in book bags. We really need those back. They greatly help our division with funding from the federal government. Below is a Q and A doc that answers why we are asking for this information. If you need a new form, please just give us a call and we can send a new one home.
Day of Hope on Oct. 31st: Instead of dressing up for Halloween, Conway's tradition is dress up as what you hope to become when you grow up. For those kiddos who do not wish to dress up, we have labels for them to write their dreams on to wear around on this great day. Here is more information about this great day. We just ask that we don't have any costumes that do not relate to dreams or hopes for the future - ie. zombies. We will ask those kiddos to change.
Veteran's Day Celebration on November 8th: One of my absolute favorite events of year!!!! We get to celebrate all of our Active Duty and Veteran family members this year on November 8th starting at 7:45 AM. Join us for some light brunch either before or after the ceremony. The ceremony will begin at 8:45 AM with a parade with your kiddos / grand kiddos and will conclude around 10:00 AM. Please RSVP here! See flyer below for more details. If you can volunteer at this event to help us set up, serve food, or tear down, we would be grateful. Click HERE to volunteer.
Make-up Pictures are Ready: Makeup/Retake Day images are now viewable online. Please visit: vosphoto.com/uc. Use your student ID when prompted for the online code. For questions regarding school pictures. Please email: underclass@vosphoto.com.
Have a degree from another country? I hear far too often from families that they have college degrees from other countries, but the US or employers here in the US do not accept the degree. I have here two organizations that you can use to help try to get your degree to be accepted. I sure hope it helps. Your work and schooling deserves to be recognized.
International Education Research Foundation
Want to run a club? We are looking to bring some great after school clubs for our kids. But, we need your help. If you have something that you are passionate about or have a unique talent that you would like to help consider teaching to kids, we would love to hear from you. We will have a staff member there with you as an advisor, but you would have the ability to teach kiddos. Please email Jessica Olesevich you are interested.
Mark Your Calendars:

Much Love!
JR
P.S. Thanks for showing me the LOVE out there for traffic patrol duty! Nate is taking back over today. Please give him all the love, the waves, and the smiles. Please know that there is no favoritism for when we decide to stop any lines. I can't even see who is driving the car at the distance we are stopping cars. We simply use breaks in the line to stop cars AND we have to ensure we don't let cars back up too far in any one direction. It's a chaotic position and sometimes I mess up on who is going when. I can promise you, it has nothing to do with anything but being overwhelmed with the chaos. Thanks again for the love last week.

News from the Community
High School Redistricting Community Meeting - This community will want to keep an eye on this process for HS redistricting.
Stafford Schools will host Division-Wide Redistricting Meetings to address the redistricting process due to the construction of High School 6, which will affect all high schools in the division. These meetings will allow parents, guardians, and other stakeholders to learn more about the proposed redistricting plans and to provide feedback to Planning Staff and the School Board. We encourage all families to attend these meetings to learn more and share your thoughts as we plan for the future:
- October 1, 7 PM – Stafford High School (Community Meeting #2)
- October 30, 6 PM – Mountain View High School (Community Meeting #3)
- November 12, 7PM – Bandy Administration Building (Public Hearing)
We have created a new mapping tool that allows families to input their address and overlay the different redistricting scenarios to see how their household might be impacted. Families should use the layers selection tool on the right of the map to review each scenario.
Final action on the redistricting plan will be taken by the School Board on December 10, 2024. The new high school boundaries will take effect in August 2026. Please feel free to share this information with students and families as needed, and do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Old but Still Good Info
Free or Reduced Lunch Application: If your family is in need of free or reduced prices for lunches, please visit this page for details on how to apply. Unfortunately, this is something that you have to redo every year. I believe you will have until the end of September to complete this form if they qualified last year. See more information below on the flyer.
- Simplified Attendance Reporting: In our ongoing efforts to enhance efficiency and convenience, all attendance will now be reported using ParentVUE. This centralized platform will provide parents with a user-friendly, one-stop location to submit attendance updates quickly and easily for the entire family. By consolidating this process into ParentVUE, we aim to simplify absence reporting for parents and ensure accurate attendance records for our schools. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzRfZTHVro4&t=10s
