From the Principal's Desk—
Hello Hilltopper Families:
As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt thanks to all of you. It's been a wonderful year at Park School so far and I am so grateful for the amazing students and staff I have the privilege of working with each day.
I also want to extend a special thank you to our parents and guardians. Your continued support, involvement and dedication to your child’s education play a key role in their success. We couldn’t do it without YOU!
Our students continue to impress me with their curiosity, hard work and excitement for learning. It’s truly inspiring to see their enthusiasm in the classroom, and I am grateful for the partnership between our teachers, staff and families that helps these young minds grow and thrive.
Thanksgiving is a time to stop and reflect on all the things we are grateful for. As you spend time with family and friends this season, I encourage you to take a moment to appreciate the many blessings in your life. For me, I am thankful for good health, the love of family and friends and the joy of being part of a community where laughter fills the halls—whether it’s from the excitement of our weekly wheel spins in the cafeteria, students stopping into the office to “show off” their Topper Tickets or moments when students level up in Lexia or Xtra Math. I am also thankful for the strong sense of belonging we all share at Park, especially during special events like our Turtle Naming Election and our Veterans Day Assembly.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I encourage all of us to think about ways we can help those in need this holiday season. Even small acts of kindness can have a big impact and remind us of the true meaning of Thanksgiving.
Thank you for being such an important part of our Park School family. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as your principal and look forward to all the great opportunities awaiting our students.
Wishing you and your loved ones a Happy Thanksgiving filled with joy, laughter and many reasons to be thankful.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Makee

Historical Fiction by Anna Rhamy in Miss Fisher's class 📚
After the field trip to Century Village, Miss Fisher's students wrote a story about Century Village and here is one example. Great work!
Anna and the Wagon
Once there was a girl named Anna. Anna wore a nice long french braid and a pink dress. One lovely morning Anna went to water the garden. She lived in Century Village. She lived in a nice warm cabin. Then Anna went to mail her friend a note. The note said Dear Kelsey I want you to come over and paint some pictures from Anna.
Anna's friends name was Kelsey. Kelsey was a great painter so Anna told Kelsey to paint a picture of her sister. Her sister was named Lydia.Lydia was five years old.But one day KeIsey,Anna and Lydias mothers told them they had to go to school! The girls did not want to go to school! They were so upset. On the first day of school Lydia had to put her nose in the chalk circle because of talking to Kelsey but then Anna thought of in idea. Her idea was they all would go on a big Wagon to take a break from school because the teacher Miss Wingten was very harsh.
The very next morning before they went Annas mom told her to go get some eggs from the back yard so she could trade for coffe. So Anna went to the market for coffee but before she went she had to count her eggs there was 1,2,3,4,5 and 6 eggs thats just enough for one cup of coffee. Anna brought the coffee back to her mom and set off. Anna got on the wagon grabbed some sugar,fIour and salt and the wagon started to move.Lydia pushed the break and said "STOP i want to stay"
"me to" said Kelsey very quietly.
"Actually I do too" said Anna and she continued "okay lets stop the wagon and go tell mom that were all staying home."
So the next day they all went to school and Anna even met a new friend named Eliza. "Eliza had to put her nose in the chalk circle too" Anna said to Lydia. Lydia gave a big gasp. So on the home they had a plan. The plan was they were going to start listening to the teacher and stop talking while the teacher was talking. The next day the girls go to school and in school they don“t talk so no one has to put their nose in the chalk circle and they have a good day.

Park Clinic Corner
PSA: Girl's pants needed (all sizes) like leggings would be awesome!
We are seeing an increase in pneumonia this school year (and you may have been hearing about this in the media, as well.) The clinic's goal in the school setting is to keep kids in school, but also to mitigate/manage illness when illnesses do arise. Here are some helpful tips regarding pneumonia management when it comes to your school-age child. Please call the clinic to speak with Mrs. Park or Mrs. Kolenich if you have any specific questions and thank you for reading this helpful information.
If a child has pneumonia, you should call the school or childcare provider and keep them home until they are well enough to participate in school activities. A child should stay home until they meet the following criteria:
They no longer have a fever for 24 hours, without the use of fever reducing medicine
They are eating and drinking well
They feel up to going to school
Some symptoms of pneumonia include: Coughing, Fever and chills, Rapid breathing or difficulty breathing, Feeling very tired, and Chest pain.
The length of time a child should stay home depends on the type of pneumonia:
Bacterial pneumonia
A child is contagious for about 48 hours after starting antibiotics and their fever goes away.
Viral pneumonia
A child is contagious as symptoms start to go away, especially fever. The contagious period is commonly 7-10 days.
Fungal pneumonia
Fungal infections are not contagious and are not spread from person to person.
To prevent the spread of disease, you should:
- Wash your hands frequently with soap and water
- Avoid contact with people who are showing signs of illness
- Keep drinking glasses and eating utensils separate from other family members
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
We have had many students showing up bringing cough drops to drop off in the clinic. Please remember, while it is very helpful to have cough drops kept in the clinic for your child, you must fill out an over the counter order form for these and they need to be delivered by the parent to school. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
