We are definitely in the midst of winter! Please be sure to send your child to school with appropriate outerwear, as we will try to get them outside for recess as often as possible. They need the fresh air and space to run, even if just for a few minutes.

Catholic Schools Week is coming! This is one of our favorite weeks of the year because we get to celebrate all of the people that make Saint John special. We do need your help! See the Sign Up Genius below to help at Open House and on Teacher Appreciation Day. .

Email me if you are interested in participating in our school Mass on Monday, January 27, at 9 a.m. We are seeking parent (or grandparent) readers, offertory, etc. Names will be chosen by random draw Friday.

To answer a Spirit Week question:

• The "Dress Like a Word" costume should not be a proper noun (like a person). Think of emotions, actions, adjectives, and more.
• For example:

1. Emotions: Words like "joyful," "excited," "grumpy," or "confident."
1. EX: Joyful: Bright, colorful clothes, a big smile, and cheerful accessories.
2. Action Words (Verbs): Words such as "run," "dance," "jump," or "float."
1. EX: Float: clouds, style your hair so it looks like floating, maybe incorporate balloons
3. Adjectives: Fun descriptive words like "sparkly," "wild," "gigantic," or "colorful."
1. EX: Wild: Wear a variety of animal prints or a mix of patterns and textures
4. Nature Words: Words like "breeze," "volcano," "rainbow," "rain", or "forest."
1. EX: Rain: A gray or blue outfit with paper raindrops and a toy umbrella

Be sure to include a tag with your word somewhere on your costume. If you don't have that part, we will provide it.

This can be as simple or complex as you want. The internet is full of examples. We are excited to see the creativity of our students on this fun day!
