Week-at-a-Glance (WAAG) for Feb. 5-7, 2024
Mission of the week: Respectful Relationships
The Mission set for this last week was "Respectful Relationships" and treating everyone how you would like to be treated, like the Golden Rule.
Over the coming weeks, we will be focusing on love and kindness as we reflect on Random Acts of Kindness and Valentine's Day, along with Ash Wednesday and Lent. This reminds us to always show love and kindness to each other to truly make a difference in someone's day.
The virtue for the month of February is friendship. The one shared between friends, is very special and life-giving. The best example of friendship of course, is Jesus. Jesus walked alongside his disciples in ministry, ate alongside them and enjoyed their companionship, laughed and cried with them. Jesus put effort and care into knowing His disciples. Jesus always sought to elevate his friends, never to bring them down. We can all follow in the examples of Jesus and share love with others like he did.
Wishing everyone a wonderful week ahead (only three days of school!)

Building Self-Esteem
At some point or another, I’m sure we can all think back to a time during our childhood when we struggled with our self-esteem. Being unsure of yourself, especially around others, can be a struggle for children and their self-esteem. The good news is that we can help with that!
We can play a huge part in helping to strengthen our children’s self-esteem and ensuring they face the world with a strong sense of self-worth with just a few easy steps such as:
Taking time to help your child reflect on all of the things that make them who they are and why that makes them wonderful
Making time each day to show them unconditional love
Reminding them that they are strong and capable and that they have your support
Luckily, building up our self-esteem is often easier than we think! With our commitment, we can help instill a strong sense of self-esteem within our children so that they can feel confident to put their best foot forward every day.
Check out this week’s resources from Big Life Journal to help support your child’s self-esteem and form a positive self-image.
One School One Book
Our One School One Book Project is winding down. Here are the winners of this week's The Lemonade War draw. There is still one more week of draws next Wednesday so keep sending in photos of families reading and be sure to finish reading the book for the Finale to ONE SCHOOL, ONE BOOK on February 12th. HUGE thanks to the 18 families who have sent in photos of reading The Lemonade War. It is great to see all the families getting into the book.
The draw for the Family Literacy Week Bingo Card has been extended to Monday morning to give everyone a few more days to complete the card so please send in your entries on Monday.

Parent Information
The 2023/2024 Alberta Education Assurance (AEA) survey is now open!!
The Alberta Education Assurance (AEA) survey gathers feedback on the quality of education provided by school authorities and their schools. Schools and school authorities use this information to understand how they are doing and plan for the future.
Who gets a survey?
The AEA survey is sent by mail to parents or guardians of students in Grades 4 through 9, as Legal School is a smaller school.
Legal School Teachers and students in Grade 4-9 will complete the survey online at school.
Take the survey
Parents or guardians receive a survey invitation package by mail and have the option to complete the survey on paper or online using the provided Random Access Code (RAC). *See the photo of the envelope and watch for this and complete it as soon as you receive it. All surveys must be submitted by March 1st deadline.
Parents or guardians with more than one student in an eligible grade will receive a separate survey invitation package for each child.
Survey questions
The AEA survey is different for students, parents and teachers. The survey is made up of questions that cover a variety of measures and tie back to Alberta Education’s Assurance Framework.
Survey results
The AEA survey asks the same questions each year so we can measure how schools are performing over time.
All responses are anonymous. Results are calculated at the provincial, school authority and school level and provided back to schools and school authorities for the purposes of their planning and reporting. For further information about the school or school authority results, please contact the school or school authority directly.
Results for groups with fewer than 6 responses are not reported.
Last year we only had 12 responses so the more we recieve the better information we gather as a school community!!
