WUSD uses RevTrak for online payments. For more information on making payments using RevTrak, please go to the Revtrak Instructions link on the online registration website. Paying school fees online via credit card or checking account will result in a 3% service charge. NEW THIS YEAR: A service fee will also be charged when adding money to your child's lunch account online. If you do not have access to pay online or wish to pay in person, payments may be mailed to or dropped off (cash or check) at your child’s school. Payments will be accepted at any building for any student. This means that if you have students at three different buildings, you can pay all fees in one location.
CHECKS SENT TO SCHOOL
All checks sent to school should be made payable to “Watertown Unified School District” or “WUSD”. Any checks sent to school that are returned by the bank because of ‘insufficient funds’ will have a charge assessed to them. Our bank has asked that we request parents to use black or blue ink when writing checks. The scanner the bank uses does not pick up other colors of ink.
NO PARKING ZONES
🔹There is NO PARKING ON THE EAST SIDE OF SOUTH TWELFTH STREET AND THERE IS NO PARKING ON THE WEST SIDE OF SOUTH TWELFTH STREET IN FRONT OF SCHOOL. Please be aware of this parking ordinance when making arrangements to drop off/pick up your child(ren). Unattended vehicles may receive tickets. Please obey the handicap parking signs.
🔹Please do not park in the bus turnaround on 10th street before and after school.
🔹Please refrain from blocking or parking close to the driveways of our Webster neighbors when dropping off, picking up, or parking. We want to be good neighbors and it can be frustrating to them to have their driveway blocked when they need it. If you are visiting Webster during the school day please park in one of the lots.
🔹Please refrain from parking past the gate on the south playground if you are staying at school during the day.
SHOES PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASSES
All students should have a pair of clean tennis shoes left at school to use in physical education class. Please put your child’s first and last name on the inside of his/her tennis shoes.
ILLNESS AT SCHOOL
Should your child become ill or have an injury at school we will make every effort to first contact you. If we are unable to reach you, we will contact the emergency contact person listed for the student. Please keep the office updated on any phone, address, emergency contact changes throughout the school year.
MEDICATIONS AT SCHOOL
It may be necessary for your child to be administered medicine during the school day. If your child must receive prescription medicine at school, the following procedure will be followed: Parents are to bring the medication (in its original, labeled bottle/box/container) to the school office along with the Medication Consent Form (form available here https://5il.co/1t6m6 https://5il.co/1tldw , on the website or from the Webster office) completed and signed by the doctor and parent/guardian. For non-prescription medication this same form must be completed, but only needs to be signed by the parent/guardian. Before a school employee can give students ANY type of medication, this signed permission form must be received. No medication will be given if it comes in a plastic baggie, plain bottle, envelope, etc. or without the proper paperwork completed. Unused and outdated medication should be picked up by parents.
FREE/REDUCED PRICE MEAL APPLICATIONS
Free/Reduced Price Meal Applications are available on the website https://www.schoolnutritionandfitness.com/index.php?sid=0103102234130625 , and on-line via Skyward Family Access as part of the on-line registration process. Paper copies will be available at school offices. Free and reduced meal applications must be submitted every year unless you received a letter from the WUSD Nutrition Services Office stating your child will receive free meals. If you have not filled out a new application, please do so as soon as possible.
Lunch menus can also be found on the website.
WUSD ANNUAL NOTICES
The 2024/2025 District Annual Notices are part of the online registration process. They are also available on the district website.
ATTENDANCE
Reporting Absences It is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to report all student absences to the office by 8:15a.m. on the day of the absence. If absences are known in advance, parents are encouraged to contact the school office (920)262-1490 or send in a note with their child. A message may be left on the school’s voicemail. If we do not receive a call reporting the absence, the school secretary will attempt to call the parent or guardian to verify the child’s whereabouts.
Watertown Unified School District recognizes personal illness, severe illness or a death in the family, religious observances, extreme weather conditions, required court appearances, and health appointments as reasons for excused absences. To ensure that medical absences are considered “excused”, please provide a doctor’s note for any appointments or medical situation requiring an absence. Students must have a note from a physician for exclusion from phy. ed class for health reasons.
Students are considered LATE if they arrive at school after 7:55a.m. After 9:00a.m., students are considered absent. If students return to school before 11:30a.m., we consider the students absent one-half day (morning).
If a student is to leave between 11:30a.m.-2:00p.m., they will be considered absent for one-half day (afternoon). Students leaving after 2:00, but prior to the end of the school day will also be noted through attendance as “leaving early”, which will be considered LATE for the afternoon.
Students are considered truant if they are absent without an excuse from the list above OR if a parent does not notify the school on/before the day of the absence. We prefer that the parent notify us by phone on the day of the absence, so that we may know that the student is safely under the supervision of the family.
Truancy by a student, as well as contributing to truancy by a parent, is a violation of both State and City Law. If there will be a scheduled absence, a note should be sent to school before the absence. A doctor’s note should be provided to the office whenever possible. After 10 absences a doctor’s excuse may be required to have the absence excused.
I thank you in advance for helping to make this a priority. If I can help in any way please feel free to call me. Thank you, Mr. Clark
WUSD ELEMENTARY HANDBOOK DRESS CODE
“School is the work environment for children. Especially in warm weather, children may want to dress for the beach, the park, and generally for play. However, this is not appropriate for school. Children are expected to wear tops that cover their bellies, backs, shoulders, etc. and do not show undergarments. Shorts and skirts should be modest and not too short. Flip flops are definitely NOT proper shoes for school. They don’t stay on the feet and are not good for walking or running. Hats, bandanas, sunglasses, etc., are not to be worn indoors. Of course, there can be no advertising or promoting of alcohol, drugs, beer, tobacco, profanity, or criminal behavior.”
What does this mean for Webster Wildcats?
●Shorts and skirts must reach a child’s fingertips when standing upright. This is also the policy at other schools in the district.
●Spaghetti straps are not allowed on shirts or dresses.
●No undergarments (male or female) should be showing.
●Flip flops are strongly discouraged.
●If a student comes to school dressed in clothing that does not meet the dress code, we may ask the child to turn a shirt inside-out, a call may be made home for different clothing to be brought to school, or we may provide the child with different clothing to change into or to wear over his or her clothing.
SMOKE FREE ENVIRONMENT ACT
State Statute 120.12 (20) Effective September 1, 1990, the use of all tobacco products is prohibited on all premises owned by, rented by, or under the control of the School Board. This includes school buildings, grounds, and at all school sports, athletic or extracurricular events. The tobacco prohibition applies to everyone on school premises - students, staff, and the public.
The Watertown Police Dept. may issue a fine for violations of this ordinance.
