An update from the Bremerton School Board
Introducing our superintendent finalists
The Bremerton School District Board of Directors is pleased to announce the three finalists in the superintendent search.
Dr. Shaun Carey
Dr. Shaun Carey has served as superintendent for the Enumclaw School District since 2018. Prior to joining the Enumclaw School District, Dr. Carey served as Deputy Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources and Business, and executive Director of Human Resources and Business for the Franklin Pierce School District.
Dr. Carey earned his Bachelor's degree in elementary education and his school administration credentials from Pacific Lutheran University. He earned his Master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from City University of Seattle, and his Doctorate in educational leadership from Washington State University.
Dr. Slade McSheehy
Dr. Slade McSheehy is the superintendent for the Vashon Island School District. Before joining the Vashon Island School District in 2018, he served as the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning and middle school principal in the Hockinson School District. He also served as high school assistant principal at Prairie High School.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies/French and his Master's degree in school counseling from California State University in Long Beach. He earned his Doctorate in educational leadership from Washington State University.
Mr. Rich Staley
Mr. Staley is the superintendent of the Oakville School District. Prior to becoming superintendent in 2017, Mr. Staley was the Director of Teaching and Learning for Capital Region Educational Service District (ESD) 113. He’s also served as a principal and the Director of Teaching and Learning in the Tenino School District. Mr. Staley started his career as a teacher in the Camas School District.
Mr. Staley earned his Bachelor's degree in elementary education and his superintendent credentials from Washington State University. He earned his Master’s degree in educational technology and principal credentials from City University.
Join us on Tuesday to meet the three finalists!
Students, staff, family members and members of the community are invited to meet our finalists on Tuesday, April 1 from 5 - 7:15 p.m. in the Bremerton School District board room (134 Marion Avenue North, Bremerton, WA 98310). All attendees will have a chance to share their feedback after meeting the finalists.
