Cedar Hill Boys Basketball Team Looks To Sweep DeSoto
The Cedar Hill High School Boys Basketball Team picked up a couple of key victories last week -- 74-69 at Mansfield and 73-55 vs. Skyline.
The Longhorns (20-11, 6-5) can move another step closer to their second consecutive playoff bid and third in four years with a win on Tuesday at DeSoto (16-11), a team that reached the UIL Class 6A State Semifinals last season. Cedar Hill defeated DeSoto, 75-55, last month in Round 1 of Battle Of Belt Line.
The Longhorns currently lead the Eagles by two games (with three games remaining) for the final playoff spot. If they qualify for the playoffs, Cedar Hill is expected to face Harker Heights in the first round.
On Friday, Cedar Hill will visit Mansfield Legacy (10-18) on Senior Night, honoring the team's six seniors. CHHS defeated Legacy this season. Last season, the Longhorns and Broncos split in the regular season with Legacy winning a third round playoff matchup by two points.
"It is always sentimental for me at this particular time regarding the seniors," Cedar Hill head boys basketball coach Corey Chism said. "You spend countless minutes, hours and years having them under your tutelage and watching them grow and evolve into great young men. This senior group has been together and a part of our group for four years."

The headliners of University Interscholastic League (UIL) District 6A-11 (The District of Doom) remains with Cedar Hill, DeSoto and Duncanville remaining in the district for the 2024-2026 cycle, effective this August.
There will be three new teams in the district, with the addition of Lancaster, Mesquite and Mesquite Horn. Mansfield, Mansfield Lake Ridge and Mansfield Legacy are joining District 6A-3, which is a Fort Worth area district.
The realignment means 6A-11 will now have all four “Best Southwest” teams, with Lancaster – a perennial Class 5A power – making the jump to 6A. Seven of the eight schools in the new 6A-11 realignment are in Dallas County, with Waxahachie (Ellis County) being the only exception.
It also means that the Cedar Hill Football Team will face a Mesquite team coached by former Longhorns defensive coordinator DeMarcus Harris. Cedar Hill head football coach Nick Ward and Harris worked together on the 2020 CHHS Team that finished second at state.
District 6A-11 (effective August 2024)
- Cedar Hill
- Dallas Skyline
- DeSoto
- Duncanville
- Lancaster
- Mesquite
- Mesquite Horn
- Waxahachie
