SCHOOL-WIDE POSITIVE BEHAVIOR SYSTEM (SWPBS)
During the first few weeks of school, all staff and students explicitly teach and model expected behavior using the school-wide positive behavior system, Go CATS! During the third week, we reviewed “Take Responsibility” and focused lessons on the "A" for "Act Respectfully." Students who were wow-ing us with Act Respectfully behaviors earned Cat Cash, which can be used towards classroom-specific and whole-school rewards. Learn more about Go CATS! and SWPBS from your child, your child’s teacher, the EV webpage, and EV social media accounts.
Stay tuned for more SWPBS and Responsive Classroom news each week.
START WITH HELLO WEEK
From September 23-27, 2019, thousands of schools and youth organizations across the United States will participate in Start With Hello Week. During this week, EV will participate in activities to help create a culture of inclusion that values each individual at our school.
To help prepare for the week have your child wear:
- A shirt that displays a positive message or depicts a happy image on Monday, September 23rd.
- Wear a green shirt (or green outfit) on Friday, September 27th. The goal is to have the whole school unite to support the Sandy Hook Promise. Schools around the country will also be wearing green this day!
SCHOOL PAY
PARENT VOLUNTEER TRAINING
All school and classroom helpers, field trip chaperones, and party helpers must attend a training session and sign the confidentiality agreement to begin volunteering.
LOTS OF FUN AND LEARNING AT EV
Kindergarten students were so excited to meet their class mascot, Mabel! Then they found more objects that started with the letter, M!
EV broadcasters are hard at work preparing the 2019 trailer for EV News! Stay tuned!

STAFF SPOTLIGHT
Counselor, Mrs. Morgan
I am a licensed professional counselor, certified guidance counselor and former HS English teacher. Currently, I serve as the Student Assistance Counselor/crisis counselor for the middle school as well as cover all 5 elementary schools for crisis/consultation. I have been in the district for 15 years!
Mrs. Morgan works with EV students and staff on Wednesday and Thursday mornings. She facilitates individual and group counseling sessions and offers consultations for staff and families. Welcome back, Mrs. Morgan!
Academic Coach, Mrs. Rapp
Hi! My name is Danielle Rapp. Growing up I loved school and knew that I wanted to be a teacher. I pursued both my undergrad and graduate degrees from Penn State. While there, I met my husband, George. We live in Gilbertsville and have two children: Taylor (5) and James (3). We also have a dog, his name is Axel Foley. In my free time, I enjoy camping, working out, hanging out with friends & family, and watching football.
I have been teaching for 13 years, and I have taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade! I believe change is something we all need to do from time to time because our goal should be to improve in our profession. This year I am stepping out of my comfort zone and trying a new role as the interim academic coach. Since I started teaching, I have been very fortunate to have strong mentors and colleagues who have all had a positive impact in shaping my career as an educator. This school year I look forward to working, coaching, and learning alongside the EV staff & students.
Fun Fact: My sister, Brittany Williams, and I are thirteen months apart, and she works at the high school as a guidance counselor!
