RECIPES & TIPS
Blueberries
Summertime and blueberries - a perfect combination! Our GG crew looks forward to our trip to Dillon's every year to have fun blueberry picking. We had good weather and an enthusiastic crew this week to bring you a beautiful harvest of these little blue treats. Now you can celebrate National Blueberry Month and make a family favorite recipe, try a new twist with your berries, or just enjoy them as a healthy snack on their own. Enjoying the blueberry sure isn't new - blueberries have been part of life for 13,000 years! The first highbush blueberry bush was successfully cultivated for commercial production in the early 1900s, and today, we grow nearly 1 billion pounds of blueberries in North America each year.
Corn on the Cob
Straight from the fields of our friends, the McMaster family, here's an item you've all been waiting for - sweet corn! This is a CSA highlight every year. We would love to hear about what you choose to do with your corn. Do you cut it off the cob? Eat it cold? Smother it in butter? Share your tips and photos of one of the best parts of the summer!
What about combining your corn and blueberries???
Spaghetti Squash
The Spruce Eats tells us that, "Spaghetti squash is a medium-sized winter squash with an oblong shape, a creamy yellowish skin, and a relatively mild, neutral flavor. It's characterized by the way its cooked flesh separates into long strands resembling noodles—hence, the name spaghetti squash. Spaghetti squash might not overpower you in the flavor department, but the neutral flavor makes it a great candidate for pairing with various sauces, especially tomato-based sauces, but also cream sauces, as well as simple sauces of butter or olive oil." No matter how you try it, we hope you find your spaghetti squash dish to be delicious!
