NO SCHOOL APRIL 19

There will be no school on Friday, April 19. It is a built in "snow day", and it was determined that LAPS has enough required hours for this school year where we can still have the day off! Enjoy the day!

CHAMISA ELEMENTARY FACILITIES

Join us on May 1st at 5:30 in the Chamisa gym for a discussion on the LAPS facility master plan and provide insight and ideas for school buildings and capital outlay projects for Chamisa.

CHAMISA GLOW RUN - APRIL 26

Sign up to participate in the Chamisa Glow Run! We will have glow jewelry for everyone, a glow tunnel inside, and the Hilllstompers will be here! We are hoping for a big turn out, so invite your friends and neighbors!

VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION BREAKFAST

We are so appreciative of all the volunteers that take time out of their schedules to make a difference in a child's life. If you have volunteered in any way, please join us for the Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast on Wednesday, May 15 at 7:30.

PARCC TESTING

Chamisa 3rd-6th grade students will take the statewide standardized test (PARCC) on April 23, 24, 25. At Chamisa, we feel that this is a time to show what you know, and we work hard not to make this a stressful experience for our students.

This year the test is shorter than it has been in the past. Students will take two tests on Tuesday, one on Wednesday and two on Thursday. On Friday we will have our monthly assembly and will add root beer floats to the celebration.

Please make sure your children get a good night’s sleep and have breakfast in the morning. While make-up tests will be offered the following week, it is best if students are here on those days. Make-up tests require the students to miss class time.

CERTIFIED & CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR

Each year, Chamisa nominates a certified (teacher/nurse/counselor) and classified (IA/custodian/office staff) employee of the year. These individuals are then eligible to win the LAPS Certified and Classified Employee of the Year.
