Highlights of the Week
The deep freeze continued into this week, bringing another no-bus day on Monday and indoor recesses on both Tuesday and Wednesday. Thankfully, by Thursday and Friday, the temperatures improved enough for us to head back outside and enjoy all the fresh snow—a much-needed break for everyone!
Our Country CTS options continued this week. Every Tuesday, Thursday, and some Fridays, our junior high students travel to Wm E Hay to participate in the options programs, choosing between Foods & Fashion or Industrial Arts. Beyond the hands-on learning, these courses offer a wonderful opportunity for our students to get familiar with Wm E Hay’s campus and meet other county students who will become their classmates in Grade 10.
In athletics, our basketball teams were back in action on Wednesday. The boys traveled to Big Valley, and the girls played at Christ King. Both teams played with hard and had a great time. While the boys didn’t secure a win, Coach Robert was proud of their hard work and highlighted some excellent plays throughout the game. The girls, on the other hand, celebrated a win against Christ King. A highlight of the game was that every player on the team scored a basket! The girls also had two games on Saturday in Castor, facing off against Brownfield and Gus Wetter. We entered the day down a couple key players due to injury and sickness, so we need our grade 5/6 players to step up, and they did indeed. The girls come out ahead against Brownfield, and were edged out by 11 points against Gus Wetter. What impressed me the most was our girls willingess to battle through tired legs, and not give up. They remained positive even when we were losing and encouraged our younger players! They showed a lot of character.
Wednesday also marked the kickoff of our nutrition program. Our Grade 9 students partnered with Amanda Clark to prepare a delicious, nutritious meal. This program will continue every Wednesday for the second half of the year, providing hot meals at no cost to our families. It’s been a long-standing tradition and a great way to offer our junior high students unique learning experiences while ensuring everyone enjoys a healthy meal together.
Parents' Survey of Our Principal
I want to thank the parents that have taken the time to fill out the survey concerning my role as Donalda's principal. If you have not yet had the chance to fill one out, I would highly encourage you to complete one. The feedback I have already received has got me thinking of ideas for this spring and the upcoming fall. Here is the link to the survey, and I look forward to hearing more from our parents! I will be closing the survey on Wednesday after school.

On Monday we had our kick off with other schools across the prairie provinces.m Here is a link to their website for more information. We encourage families to keep track of their physical activity at home as well. Above are some ways that were being active in on Friday during our SEL block.
