Winter Concert Success
Thank you for your support at our Winter Concert! We could not do this without our amazing parent and student support. If you took any great concert photos or videos, email them to Mrs. Neugent at ncneugent@prosper-isd.net.
Gift Exchange Wed/Thurs
We will do an optional gift exchange during class on block day this week. See flyer below for more details! It should be a fun event for our students.
No Instruments/Locker Clean Out Friday
We will not need instruments or band binders in class this Friday, December 20th. Our expectation is that your band locker is completely empty by the end of the day Friday. We will complete an assignment with Chromebooks during our band class. We are accepting donations of Clorox wipes if you can spare any containers. We will be using these for students to sanitize and clean their lockers.
Saxophone Caroling
All 6th-12th grade Hays/Rock Hill saxophones are invited to spread some holiday cheer through some caroling! We will have our saxophone caroling rehearsal Wednesday morning from 7-8am in the Hays band hall. Then, we will perform some holiday carols Friday morning (12/20) before school. We will meet at 7:15am and then perform for the students and teachers from 7:45 to 8:08am.
Concert Black Needed
It’s that time of year! Our Hays Band students are nearing their first band competition, and it is important they look the part! Our uniform consists of an all-black concert attire, so students all look the same. It also looks professional on the concert stage! Students need to have all the parts of their uniform purchased by Thursday, January 30th, so it is ready to go for their Pre-UIL performance on February 20th. Please see the letter below for what is (and is not) acceptable “concert black” attire.
Lessons are highly encouraged in the Hays band program! Private lessons are a chance for your child to have lessons with a specialist on their instrument and get individualized instruction. Students that may be struggling can get the extra help to improve, but the average to advanced players can get instruction to progress further and keep them challenged outside of class! You can also find more information about lessons and financial aid available under the “Lessons” tab of the band website.
Sign up by emailing one of our lesson teachers. Let them know your child's name, their band class, and that they go to Hays Middle School so they can get your child on their schedule! Click the "Private Lessons" title above for more information.
Hays Family Photo Submissions
If you take great pictures of our Hays band students at a band event, please submit them to our yearbook sponsor to include in the Hays yearbook using the form linked below. We would love to see a lot of band students represented in our yearbook this year!
