We are excited to share that we have completed our middle-of-the-year assessments. We are incredibly proud of the effort and dedication that our students, or as we like to call them, our leaders, have shown throughout this process.

As we continue to support your child's growth, we encourage you to reach out to your child's teacher to discuss their progress. A parent-teacher conference is a great opportunity to learn more about your child's strengths, areas for growth, and the steps we will take together to ensure continued success from now until the end of the school year.

Nos complace compartir que hemos completado nuestras evaluaciones de mitad de año. Estamos increíblemente orgullosos del esfuerzo y dedicación que nuestros estudiantes, o como nos gusta llamarlas, nuestras líderes, han demostrado a lo largo de este proceso. Last week, I shared a little bit about our ATL Skills, or our Approaches to Learning Skills. Our leaders continue to practice using different skills that are part of those Approaches to Learning Skills. These skills are Communication skills, Self-management skills, Thinking skills, Social skills, and Research skills. The skill we would like to highlight this week is Communication. This week, students have had multiple opportunities to refine their Communication skills! During Monday morning's rally, Dr. Muñoz asked leaders to be Reflective of things that they are being Inquirers about. She asked them: What do you wonder about? After some think time, leaders partnered up with a sister to Communicate their wonders. It was neat to see them confidently share their thinking with others!

Our leaders also Communicated their achievements, growth, and goals during Monday's student led conferences. Leaders maintain student binders to help them showcase what they are learning. Our teachers also take time to help our leaders prepare for these conferences. Sometimes they provide a script for them to follow, tips on how to share their ideas, and give them time to practice with their peers.

Communication skills aren't always about talking! Communication includes listening and receiving information, too. Our leaders listen to their peers when they collaborate in group work so that they can accomplish the learning required for that task. Teachers also provide our leaders with feedback as they work. This means students must be active listeners and Thinkers in order to receive the feedback. Our leaders are truly amazing Communicators!
