Our Amazing School Community
Homecoming! What a fantastic celebration of our school community. Our school has a long-standing tradition of pride, spirit, and connection, and last week’s festivities are a reminder of just how special Mankato West truly is. From the time the band marched the halls, to the Variety Show, Coronation, Battle of the Classes, the football game to the dance, it was a celebration of what it means to be a Scarlet.
This year, we welcomed over 300 alumni to the coronation ceremony. It’s inspiring to see the generations of graduates coming together, sharing their memories, and continuing the legacy of Scarlet pride. Whether it’s the decades-long reunions or the stories shared among classmates, these events are a testament to the strength of our community and the sense of belonging that makes our school such a unique place.
Once a Scarlet, Always a Scarlet.

Hall of Fame
In 2013, Mankato West High School started a Hall of Fame for the purpose of providing our current students, staff, and community with the vision of the outstanding legacies of Mankato High School and Mankato West High School. It is hoped that these people will provide role models for our current students and offer us a chance to celebrate the successes of those from our school. To be considered for induction, alumni need to be 10 years post high school and staff need to be at least 2 years retired. Categories include: Professional, Athletic/Entertainment, Science/Technology, Community Service, Entrepreneur/Industrial.
Last Thursday, we inducted seven new members: Greg Ellsworth, Paul Huepenbecker, Samarah Hadley, Natasha Frost, G. Barry Anderson, Jillian Hiscock, and Bob Ihrig.
If you have someone you would like to nominate for our Hall of Fame, please submit this form.
Support Our Schools
Last Saturday, our choir was chosen to sing back-up with the band Foreigner at a concert at the Mayo Event Center. The choir did an amazing job and were able to experience what it is like to be a rock star!
After the choir was done singing, Foreigner's lead singer showed them some extra love and encouraged the audience to keep music in our schools and put out an ask to support our schools. Thank you, Foreigner!
The Germans Are Here!
From September 16 to October 12, Mankato West High School will be hosting 16 German students from KGS School in Stuhr, Germany, as part of our long-standing German American Partnership Program (GAPP).
These students will be staying with our West families and will shadow our students throughout the school day to gain firsthand experience of American high school life. The GAPP program, which has been a key component of our cultural exchange initiatives for over 20 years here in Mankato, provides our students with an invaluable opportunity to immerse themselves in another culture and language.

Mankato West Confidential
Mankato West Confidential (the form is also a tile on the students' omni portal) is an anonymous reporting system which allows the reporter to convey information to the Mankato West High School administration and possibly to the school's resource officer. Reports will be analyzed and may be investigated based on seriousness and merit. Concerned citizens, students, and parents may complete reports.
There is no place on the form for the reporter to leave identifiable information. Therefore, for practical purposes, the report is anonymous. However, because the reporter's IP address may be associated with the report, there should be no assumption that the report is completely protected.
On occasion, reports may be referred to the Mankato Police Department or other law enforcement agencies for criminal investigation. The reporter should have no expectation of follow-up, nor should the reporter assume that the level of conveyance is equal to or similar to contacting a law enforcement agent.
Reporters who intentionally make misleading or false reports are subject to criminal prosecution and school based penalties.
