Message from Mrs. Proctor
NPE Families,
Thank you for a great 2024 fall semester. NPE is truly thankful for our families, students, staff, and community. We can not express our deepest appreciation for you all. Your support, encouragement, and trust have been invaluable to us. Your countless efforts to support NPE and share our stories is appreciated. May you all enjoy this holiday season and lots of memories are created. See everyone in 2025!
We are fortunate to have a security guard on campus at NPE. He is here for added protection. His duties include: making sure classroom doors are locked, exterior doors are locked, facilitating families on following expected expectations and rules and to provide a sense of peace.
Friendly reminder about morning drop off:
Lifeskills, buses, and daycare are the only ones who drop off at the front of NPE starting 7:15 am. Everyone else please follow the expectations and procedures that has been pushed out.
Families may drop off at the front after 7:42 am.
Doing these two things, you can help our students succeed!
* make sure you child reads 30 minutes each night
* make sure your child knows their math facts appropriate for their grade level
Please reach out to your child's teacher for more information on what you can do from home to support your child.
TARDY BELL is 7:55 am.
DISMISSAL is 3:20 pm.
Finally, I can't stress the importance of your child being at school. Every day or partial day your child misses is lost learning time. If you are having trouble getting your child to school for whatever reason, we are here to help. Please reach out to your child's teacher, our counselor - cnuckols@taylorisd.org or John Matthews - jmatthews@taylorisd.org. We have resources to help you!
As always, if you need anything, please reach out by emailing me at cproctor@taylorisd.org.
Your passionate principal,
Cynthia Proctor, M.Ed.

Cafeteria
We have experienced an increase in voice volumes in the cafeteria. While NPE recognizes the importance of socialization, we also have to make sure students are safe. Students have been reminded to keep the voice levels down and to make sure and eat. We have had students not finish lunch because of too much visiting. We have reminded students of the importance of not talking while they have food in their mouth. This is a huge safety concern.
The last few minutes of lunch students are expected to whisper quietly at their tables so cafeteria monitors can prepare for the next group coming in and students are ready for their teachers to pick them up.
If students are unable to control their voices, we will have to move to no talking for a few minutes at the beginning of lunch until they can get their voice levels appropriate. It is all about safety.
Thank you

TISD Student Attendance
School attendance is vital to the present and future educational success of your child. Regular school attendance is essential for a student to make the most of his/her education.
TEXAS COMPULSORY ATTENDANCE LAW
Under Section 25.085(2) applies to students who are at least six years old as of September 1st of the applicable school year. The law requires a student to attend public school until the student’s 19th birthday. Students enrolled in prekindergarten or kindergarten are required to attend school and are subject to the compulsory attendance requirements as long as they remain enrolled. (Section 25.085(c).
When a student is absent, the student must bring a note to the attendance office within three days of the absence. After three days, parent notes may not be accepted and the absences will be considered unexcused. A maximum of three (3) parent notes per semester will be accepted as excused.

Notes from the Nurse:
Friendly reminder from the nurses office:
If your child is not feeling well and has vomited or had diarrhea at home or at school, please keep them home to allow them to rest and recuperate before returning to school. We are seeing an increase in GI illnesses in the last week and do not want to unnecessarily expose other children or staff. Thank you for your help in this matter. Please contact the nurses office with any questions.
Please email Nurse Gomez at mgomez@taylorisd.org with any questions or concerns. Thank you!
