HSA Middle School Newsletter

March is National Reading Month. Every year we "Drop Everything and Read" on various days throughout the month of March. To promote this, we will be “dropping everything and reading” as a school starting on Tuesday, 3/3. This will continue until Thursday, 3/19. An announcement will be made to “drop everything and read” for ten minutes. This means that teachers (as models) and students should have something to read silently at this time. AR books are preferred since they count toward student grades. We encourage students to bring their favorite book from home to have something interesting to read. Happy Reading!

"Dating relationships can be tricky at any age, but especially for young people navigating uncharted waters. Have you talked to your students about what positive, healthy dating relationships look like? There’s no time like the present as February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month.

We like to think of young love as innocent and sweet. But unfortunately, teen dating violence is much more common than most people realize. According to loveisrespect.org, one in three teens will experience physical abuse, sexual abuse, or both. Therefore, it’s critical to have ongoing conversations with students on the subject."

Know! an online resource for parents, "gives parents and caregivers of middle and high school- age kids the education, tools, strategies, and empowerment they need to raise children who are alcohol, tobacco, and drug-free." We will be sharing some of their content in hopes that it can help our parents start up important conversations with their child.

• Re-enrollment packets are due by March 6th, 2020. Please include a non-refundable consumable material fee of $25.00 per child.
• After March 9, 2020, all returning and new enrollees will be enrolled on a first come first served basis.
• If all spots are full by March 13th, Lottery day will be on March 16th

Concept Schools has launched a new app on IOS and Android. The app gives parents easy access to their student grades as well as important school news. If you have not downloaded the app you can download it at any time by searching "Conceptsis" in the appropriate app.
