Sunday, November 10th: Building a Community of Faith and Generosity
Thirty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time
Dear St. Athanasius Families,
This Sunday’s readings remind us of the power of faith, generosity, and trust in God’s care. In 1 Kings, we see the widow who, despite her poverty, generously shares her last bit of food with the prophet Elijah, trusting in God’s provision. In Mark’s Gospel, Jesus praises the widow who, though poor, gives all she has, showing deep faith and love. These stories reveal that God sees the heart and values our willingness to give, no matter how small the offering may seem.
As we teach our children about God, these readings invite us to model generosity and trust, reminding them that even small acts of kindness are precious in God's eyes, and to model a spirit of sharing within our school community. Let’s encourage them to support each other, share what they have, and help those around them, trusting that God will care for us all, just as He did for the widows. Through these lessons, we can help them see the impact of their kindness and faith, building a community rooted in love and generosity.
🌟Have a blessed week🌟
Principal's Message
Dear St. Athanasius Family,
An important message from the Office for Child and Youth Protection’s (OCYP)
Today, our scholars will receive lessons on how to be safe in their environment.
The Archdiocesan schools and parish religious education programs offer age-appropriate personal safety instruction annually, including internet safety. Through these programs, OCYP ensures that children receive important information on how to stay safe.
To assist in the monumental mission of protecting children, the Office for Child and Youth Protection is partnering with the Office of Catholic Education to present a safe environment lesson to your child who is attending an Archdiocesan Elementary School. It is our cherished role as adults to fully protect children.
In addition, we must also teach children about their safety rights and boundaries, so that they have tools to protect themselves. What follows is information about the program itself and the resources available to you.
Resources from the Office for Child and Youth Protection’s (OCYP) are attached.
Thank you for your partnership in your child's education.🌟
