Falcon Flyer
Belong. Inspire. Grow.
Straight from the Hardt
Hello Ridgeline Families-- it has certainly been an interesting/busy short week! Talking to some students today and they were saying how the 4-day week often feels longer and harder than a regular week. Go figure.
We started off the week with an inspiring tribute assembly and activity in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. ASB leadership created a powerful video of students sharing their personal thoughts on the contributions of MLK. Our orchestra played a moving song over excerpts from an important MLK speech about “Life’s Blueprint”. It was a great event!
There’s just a few weeks left in the semester. As I mentioned last week, communication between student/teacher and parent/teacher often increases at this time, and it should. I was thinking the other day about when times are hard, and young people having the work ethic, resiliency, and grit to grind it out when the going gets tough… This is a life skill we strive to instill through school tasks, but through my observations and experiences with thousands of teens, the most gritty kids have developed that through a combination of school and what they do or are asked to do outside of school. Kudos to all you parents who have cultivated these characteristics in your children. If you have a teen who you just can’t seem to motivate, don’t give up. Keep looking for creative ways to “light their fire”!
I want to highlight a couple items in today’s Flyer: AP testing fees are due end of the semester, Feb. 2. There is a Career Night at NewTech that might be a good option for your child. While I’m not a huge fan of students having to leave our campus/district, I am a fan of students getting the skills and training that best suits them. Google NewTech and go to their website to view available programs. They have offerings that we don’t, such as construction and automotive courses.
Hopefully you’ve seen our information on the important school Levy vote coming up Feb. 13. This replacement levy would continue to fund the people and programs that are essential for a high school like ours to provide the type of opportunities for education and activities our kids highly desire. I would encourage you to learn more about it at www.cvsd.org/levy.
One of those really cool extra-curricular activities taking off at Ridgeline is our amazing Dance Team! Our picture here was taken after their competition last Saturday, where they won first place in their category! Congrats to our dancers!
Don’t be left in the dark, please skim the Falcon Flyer weekly and you will surely be enlightened and inspired!
Make it a great weekend! --Mr. Hardt

And keep your eyes peeled around the school for other Impressionist group paintings!
