In Observance of Rosh Hashanah
Dear Families,
Farewell, September, Hello, October! πππ
Today, to recognize Hispanic Heritage Month, Tera Luna presented a Mexican Dance and Culture Performance to our students. Our students learned about an important cultural tradition or holiday celebration from Mexico through a presentation with related folkloric songs and dances, engaged in guided dance/movement activities that reinforced motor skills and rhythmic movement to music, and learned of Spanish words and phrases related to the arts and culture of Mexico. Thank you to the PTA for sponsoring this activity!
Shana Tovah, or Happy New Year, to our friends celebrating Rosh Hashanah next week.

Thank you, Daughters of the American Revolution!
On Wednesday, Hamilton Avenue School hosted a special session for 3rd graders, facilitated by volunteers from the Putnam Chapter of the Daughters of The American Revolution. This session was designed to complement the students' first unit in Social Studies, focusing on the "History of Government in Greenwich" and the celebration of Constitution Day.
This session provided a rich, immersive learning experience, fostering a deeper understanding of government history and civic responsibility. By engaging directly with foundational documents and creating their own school constitution, students gained a hands-on appreciation of the principles that underpin American governance.
Special thanks to the Putnam Chapter of the Daughters of The American Revolution for their invaluable contribution and dedication to enhancing educational experiences for our students. Their expertise and enthusiasm made Constitution Day a memorable and impactful event for the 3rd graders at Hamilton Avenue.
This session not only supported the Social Studies curriculum but also inspired students to think critically about their role in shaping their communities.

A Message Form Nurse Lucas
Dear Parents,
Several parents have still not turned in the Mandatory Permission To Treat form, which is required for your child each school year. Please submit this ASAP. All parents who have not submitted it have been emailed, and hard copies have been sent home with their children.
Third-grade students are required to have a physical examination. The forms were emailed to third-grade parents again this week and last spring. Please submit those to the nurse before 12/31/2024. The form must be on the form that was emailed home. No substitutions are accepted.
Lastly, VISION SCREENINGS will occur on Tuesday, October 22nd, for all first, second, fourth, and fifth-grade students. If time allows, we will also screen the Preschool students.
If you do not wish to have your child screened, please notify the nurse.
Thank you in advance,
Nurse Lucas
Join Us for the Annual Turkey Trot!
We are incredibly fortunate to have the unwavering support of the Greenwich Alliance for Education. Their generous contributions have significantly enriched our school's environment and programs. Thanks to their grant funding, we are able to offer exceptional opportunities through our K-Play program and the Afters Enrichment program. In the past, their support also allowed us to create beautiful outdoor classrooms that enhance our students' learning experiences.
Now, it's our turn to give back and show our gratitude! We invite you to join the Hamilton Avenue Team at the annual Turkey Trot. This event is not only an opportunity to support a worthy cause but also a chance to strengthen our community bonds and have some fun together.
Your participation helps ensure the continued success of the programs that our students cherish so much. Letβs come together to support the Greenwich Alliance for Education just as they have supported us.
Let's make this year's Turkey Trot a memorable one by showing up in full force! Your involvement makes a difference. π¦πββπββ

Volunteers & Toys Needed for Halloween Bingo
Halloween Bingo is happening on October 18 and tickets are now available for purchase here! This is one of the most popular events of the year and is a ton of fun, but we need a few parent volunteers to make it a success. If you have some time to spare, sign up to help out here. We're also in need of some new, unwrapped toys to use as Bingo prizes. If you have any to donate, please drop them off at the school office.
Help Close the Gap on HAS PTA Membership!
Only 14% of Hamilton Avenue families have joined the HAS PTA so far this year! If you haven't joined, visit our Membership Toolkit site here to sign up and help fund important initiatives like field trips, enrichment programs, teacher appreciation, and more. There is NO requirement to volunteer!
