Welcome to March
Character Trait of the Month: Courage
We all experience moments in our lives when we have to choose to do what is right and Kind. Sometimes, it’s not easy to know what choice to make. We need to have the right tools to make those decisions and be strong enough to follow through. This month's focus for 3rd grade is practicing Courage with the help of flexible thinking.
Student Success
A growth mindset—believing that abilities can be developed through effort—is essential for your child’s success in school. During Spring Break, you can help nurture this mindset with a few simple strategies:
· Discuss Personal Experiences: Share your own stories of overcoming challenges and learning from mistakes. By talking about how persistence and effort helped you, you’ll model a growth mindset and inspire your child to apply the same approach to their own learning.
· Encourage Reflection: Use the break as a time to discuss your child’s achievements and challenges from the school year. Help them reflect on what they’ve learned and how they can continue to grow.
· Promote Learning Activities: Suggest engaging and educational activities that align with their interests. This keeps their minds active and reinforces the idea that learning is a continuous journey.
By incorporating these practices during Spring Break, you’re helping your child develop resilience and a positive attitude toward their learning.
OMA
Greetings from OMA! I Our younger students will be learning about Jazz music and improvising on classroom instruments. After break we will working more with our mallet instruments (xylophones and metallophones) and doing a lesson on Vivaldi's Four Seasons. Third graders are doing great work with their recorders. We will be taking off the tape, learning a few more notes and many more songs. Our fifth graders are sounding better and better on their instruments, and will keep working hard to work as a team and get music ready for our next concert. Have a safe Spring Break and a magnificent March!
Physical Education: Move, Play, Thrive
In February we finished our Volleyball unit. Students learned to bump, serve, spike and how to rotate. Next, we will be starting speed cup stacking. For cup stacking, we will work on hand eye coordination and crossing the midline to use the right and left side of our brain.
STEM
STEM is in the air! Or is it Spring?
K-2 students will be wrapping up the study of life cycles and heading back to the stars! We will be making some of our own constellations and revisiting Robison's own planetarium!
3-5 students will be joining their younger counterparts in space with digital explorations, eclipse cameras, and another trip to our famous planetarium!
