Take the OLIS Continuing Education Survey
OLIS is conducting a statewide survey to better understand the continuing education needs for all library staff in Rhode Island.
The OLIS team will use the survey results to inform and improve our CE offerings and communication. Survey will close on June 30.
Public Library Annual Survey FY23 Training & Support
This session will cover the following topics related to the FY23 RI Public Library Annual Survey:
- Brief review of LibPAS and data entry guidelines;
- Changes to existing data elements (questions);
- Clarifications for reporting data;
- Additions to the survey; review of definitions;
- Brief review of grant-in-aid application process.
There will be time for Q&A, so bring your questions! Register today.

2023 LORI Certification Training & Support
The program will review the LORI Certification platform in LibPAS. We will walk through the certification process, which is slightly different by library type. Data input guidelines and other helpful resources will also be covered. There will be time for Q&A, so please bring your questions! Register today.

Crisis Communications: Librarianship in Action Webinar Series
Hosted by the Get Ready, Stay Ready: A Community Action Toolkit team, and led by Thom Fladung from Hennes Communications, this webinar series is designed to help you and your library develop strategies to respond to crises, big and small, while feeling confident and preserving your reputation among stakeholders. Preparing for Program Challenges at your Public Library
Nominations Open: Best Small Library in America
Library Journal's annual award for the Best Small Library in America, made possible by Ingram, was founded in 2005 to encourage and showcase the exemplary work of small and rural libraries. It honors the U.S. public library that most profoundly demonstrates outstanding service to populations of 25,000 or less (see below for eligibility requirements). The winning library will receive a $5,000 cash award, and two finalist libraries will receive $1,000 each. All three will be featured in the September 2023 issue of Library Journal and online. Nominations due by June 26.
Americans and the Holocaust: A Traveling Exhibition for Libraries
The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM) and the American Library Association (ALA) Public Programs Office present Americans and the Holocaust, a traveling exhibition that examines the motives, pressures and fears that shaped Americans’ responses to Nazism, war and genocide in Europe during the 1930s and 1940s. The special library exhibit has been traveling around 50 libraries across the country since 2021, and an extension of the exhibition will travel to another 50 U.S. public and academic libraries from 2024 to 2026.

Exploring Human Origins: Free DIY Exhibit From the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History
Beginning in Dec 2023, six libraries across the nation will host Exploring Human Origins: Promoting a National Conversation on Human Evolution, a project made possible by a partnership between ALA and Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History (NMNH).
Now, ALA and NMNH have made a free print-on-demand DIY version of the exhibit available for libraries to expand the project's reach. Learn more an apply from Programming Librarian.
