Thank you for another great week! It was wonderful to see several families having fun with the different academic activities at our STEM Night. Our bison love to see their family members engaged in learning too. We appreciate your support in continuing to foster a love of learning. Some ideas to try at home can be reading to your children in the evening, having our bison read to you, or getting hands-on by having our bison measure out ingredients as you all cook dinner. These activities help reinforce learning and vocabulary we use each day. Thank you for collaborating with us to help our bison succeed!

We are so excited to have our first full week of the new semester! This week at Upper Campus, our middle school team is working hard to prepare for our next class of Middle School Bison. We're welcoming students to campus to interview and take the campus-based magnet admission assessment. Current 5th grade families can expect notification of their student's test and interview date and time by mid- week. These will occur during the instructional day. Additionally, our 5th and 8th grade students will complete course planners for neighborhood campuses (Greiner and Sunset) this week. Please reach out to our counselor, Dr. Villanueva, if you have specific questions. This is a great opportunity to have conversations with your child about their goals and aspirations for middle and high school. Lastly, please be on the lookout for communication from classroom teachers regarding parent/teacher conferences at Upper. We look forward to meeting with everyone within the next two weeks!

At the start of each semester, we practice safety drills with students so that all staff members and students can be as prepared as possible for any emergency. These drills include fire drills, lockdown drills, and severe weather drills. We will be conducting safety drills within the next two weeks. The handout below features the calming techniques we use with our little bison to help our students remain calm. Thank you for supporting our efforts to ensure all of our students are safe.
